United States

Roughly 34 million Americans have type 2 diabetes.

1 in 10 U.S. adults has type 2 diabetes.

244,000 American children and adolescents live with type 1 diabetes.

Each year, 1.4 million Americans receive a diabetes diagnosis.

The United States spends an annual 327 billion dollars on diabetes-related expenses. 25% of all US health care spending is for diabetes care.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, projects that if trends continue, 1 in 3 Americans will have diabetes by 2050.

49% to 52% of the population is estimated to have diabetes or prediabete

Global

415 million people suffer from diabetes globally.

Approximately 80% of adult diabetic cases occur in low-income and middle-income countries.

China, India, and the United States have the cases of diabetes, with 89.5 million, 67.8 million, and 30.7 million, respectively.

The world spent 760 billion dollars on diabetes in 2019, and is expected to spend 825 billion by 2030.

It is predicted that 578 million people will have diabetes worldwide by 2030.
