Professional Interests
Dr. Michelle Carey's research interests include mechanisms of hypoglycemia-associated autonomic failure, the regulation of hepatic glucose production in diabetes mellitus, and the role of nutritional deficiencies and adipose tissue inflammation in development of insulin resistance. Dr. Carey is a member of the Einstein Global Diabetes Institute, whose goal is to impact the global diabetes epidemic through strategic partnerships in medical education and research. Additionally, she participates in teaching of endocrinology fellows, medical residents, and medical students, and is a member of the recruitment committee for Einstein/Montefiore's fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
Dr. Carey earned an M.D. degree cum laude and a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center.
