Research Profiles

Professional Interests

Ms. Haughton is an implementation scientist and community-engaged researcher. She uses qualitative methods to inform the development of community-engaged research projects, test effective implementation strategies, and assess behavior change and implementation outcomes of multilevel evidence-based interventions. Ms. Haughton serves as the Associate Director of the Community Health Systems Lab (CHSL) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In this role, she oversees and supports a team of faculty researchers, research coordinators, and data analysts. CHSL explores questions around the implementation and impact of interventions designed to improve the health of underserved communities both in the US and abroad. In the Bronx, CHSL examines implementation processes and the impact on health of a system-wide health-related social needs screening and referral to Community Health Worker (CHW) program. In West Africa, CHSL evaluates the effectiveness and implementation of a CHW-led integrated primary care program targeting improvements in maternal and child health.

Ms. Haughton has over 15 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating large community-based research programs aiming to improve various health challenges and reduce disparities among underrepresented and minoritized populations. She has training in qualitative methods, program planning and assessment, behavior change methods, intervention mapping, and dissemination & implementation science, including the National Cancer Institute’s SPRINT (Speeding Research-Tested INTerventions) program that trains researchers to take effective behavioral interventions to scale. Ms. Haughton is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in implementation science at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health (expected 2027).
