<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Kevin Fiori MD, MPH, MSc is a general pediatrician, researcher and educator. &nbsp;He is an Associate Professor in both the Division of Academic General Pediatrics and Department of Family and Social Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.&nbsp; He is the Vice Chair for Community Health &amp; Engagement and inaugural Division Chief for the Division of Community and Population Health within the Department of Pediatrics, the Executive Director, Community Health Worker Institute at Montefiore and the Director-Social Determinants of Health at the Office of Community &amp; Population Health, Montefiore Health System.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In 2002, he participated in the Master&rsquo;s International Program combining graduate work at Boston University School of Public Health and Peace Corps service. &nbsp;As a Peace Corps health specialist Volunteer in Togo, West Africa from 2003-2007, he collaborated on multiple community based health initiatives. &nbsp;In 2004, he co-founded an international non-governmental organization, called Integrate Health, for which he currently serves as Senior Adviser and Director of its embedded research unit, the Community Health Systems Lab. Integrate Health works in collaboration with the Togolese Ministry of Health to improve access and quality of primary health care. He is primary investigator on multiple ongoing implementation research studies in Togo and the Bronx focused on improving health service delivery, especially integration of community health workers. &nbsp;He was a Fellow in New York State&rsquo;s Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program.&nbsp; His domestic research focuses on integrating social needs screening and community health workers outreach in Bronx primary care centers.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Dr. Fiori&rsquo;s teaching activities focus on global health, clinical pediatrics, health service delivery, and social medicine. &nbsp;He co-directs the Global Health Elective course for the Department of Pediatrics. &nbsp;He is an advisory board member for the Global Health Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Dr. Fiori&rsquo;s clinical activities are based in the South Bronx providing primary care to families at a Federally Qualified Health Center. &nbsp;He provides mentorship to Pediatric residents in the Social Pediatrics Residency Program.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In 2016, Dr. Fiori joined the faculty in both the Departments of Pediatrics and Family and Social Medicine after completing residency training in Social Pediatrics and serving as Chief Resident at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. &nbsp;He completed a MD at the University of Washington, MPH at Boston University School of Public Health, and MSc in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. &nbsp;He holds a BS&nbsp;in Chemistry and a BA in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Dr. Fiori was awarded the Ellen Griep Award for Excellence by University of Washington School of Medicine, the 2015 Chairman&rsquo;s Award for Distinction in Research and 2015 Behavioral Science Award for Excellence from the Department of Family and Social Medicine. Dr. Fiori and Jennifer Schechter were awarded the 2016 Sargent Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service by the National Peace Corps Association.</span></p>

Biography

<p>Kevin Fiori, MD, MPH, is an Attending Physician in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics at Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). He is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is providing primary care to families in the South Bronx. Dr. Fiori also leads multiple quality improvement initiatives at CHAM. Dr. Fiori joined Montefiore in 2015.</p><p>Dr. Fiori attended the University of California San Diego, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Human Development. In 2003, Dr. Fiori received his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Boston University School of Public Health. He received his Doctor of Medicine in 2012 from University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Fiori completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and became Chief Resident in social pediatrics in 2015. He is currently working to earn his Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. </p><p>Dr. Fiori's research focuses on addressing health disparities in communities in both the Bronx and West Africa, utilizing implementation science and a health system-strengthening approach. His current domestic research focuses on social determinants of health and community worker outreach (CHW), with international research focusing on reducing maternal and child mortality by optimizing CHW integration. His work has been published internationally in various journals and he has presented abstracts at a number of international meetings.</p><p>In 2015, Dr. Fiori received the Behavioral Science Award for Excellence in Biopsychosocial Integration in Clinical Medicine from Montefiore in the Department of Family and Social Medicine. He also received the Sargent Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service from the National Peace Corps Association. </p><p>Dr. Fiori is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of a number of professional societies, including the American Public Health Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. </p>
