Professional Interests

Dr. Alvandi earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Material Science Engineering from the University of Tehran. She also earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from City College of New York for her work investigating bone fracture biomechanics, Nano analyis of biological tissu and self-repair mechanism in bone. For which she received the Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research(ASBMR).

Dr. Alvandi's research focuses on pediatric orthopedic surgery, scoliosis, Congenital hip disorders, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine, the impact of childhood obesity on the pediatric musculoskeletal system, the impact of mental health on patient reported outcome, artificial intelligence in orthopaedic surgery and health disparities. She is also interested in exploring the effect of gender on participation and authority in academic medicine. Her research has presented at numerous national meetings.
