Research Profiles

Professional Interests

I am a public health scholar whose research aims to reduce cancer burden and increase cancer equity for underserved populations locally and globally. As a Social Behavioral Scientist, I leverage expertise in health behavior and health promotion sciences to study cancer education, prevention, screening, and care and to design behavioral interventions to improve community uptake of evidence-based cancer control practices and strategies. I am particularly interested in women’s cancers and cancers of infectious etiology, such as HPV-related cancers.

My previous and ongoing research includes investigation of cervical cancer screening and prevention in sub-Saharan Africa and Ethiopia specifically, a setting in which I have been conducting community-engaged health education and research since 2012. This work has been supported by pre- and post-doctoral NIH training fellowships as a Global Health Equity Scholar (2022-2023) and a Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations Fellow (2019).
