Dr. Isasi is a life course epidemiologist whose research focuses on socio-cultural and biological underpinnings of disparities in CVD and diabetes across the life span. Dr. Isasi is the Bronx co-PI of the NHLBI funded Hispanic Community Health Study (HCHS/SOL) and PI of the SOL Youth study, the offspring of HCHS/SOL participants. HCHS/SOL is the largest cohort study of Hispanics/Latinos adults living in the US (N=16,425, 4,000 from the Bronx). Dr. Isasi oversees the field center data collection activities and contributes to the scientific goals of the study. In HCHS/SOL she is developing a program to understand early life determinants of health and is building the lifecourse research infrastructure in the cohort. She has significant expertise in the intersection of social determinants of health and genomics that contribute to the biological embedding of adversities.
In addition to her research in HCHS/SOL, Dr. Isasi is Associate Director of the New York Regional Center for Diabetes Translation Research (CDTR), core director of the Lifecourse Methodology core at the CDTR, and core director of the Lifespan and Special Population core at the Einstein-Montefiore ICTR. These activities aim to support Einstein-Montefiore investigators in translational research across the life span.
