<p>Dr. Di Biase, MD, PhD, FACC, FHRS, is a 2000 graduate (summa cum laude) of the medical school and a 2004 graduate (summa cum laude) of the cardiology residency program at the University of Bari, Bari, Italy. In 2006, he completed a second-level master degree in Electrophysiology and Pacing (summa cum laude) at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy.</p>
<p>In 2007, Dr. Di Biase received a grant from the Italian National Society of Cardiology to pursue a research fellowship under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Natale at the Miller Family Heart &amp; Vascular Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. The following year, he accepted a position in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Texas Medical School Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he continued to focus on his research projects at St. David's Medical Center under the leadership of Dr. Natale.</p>
<p>Dr. Di Biase was appointed Assistant Professor in 2007 at the University of Foggia, Italy, where he completed the PhD program in cardiovascular physiopathology in November 2010.</p>
<p>In 2009, Dr. Di Biase was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was promoted to Adjunct Associate Professor in 2012, the same year he joined Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center&nbsp;with the title of Associate Professor, Department of Medicine (Cardiology).</p>
<p>In September 2014 Dr. Di Biase was appointed Section Head of Electrophysiology and Director of Arrhythmia Services at Einstein/Montefiore, while continuing to serve as Senior Researcher at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute at St. David's Medical Center.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Subsequently Dr. Di Biase was promoted to the rank of Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine (Cardiology).</p>
<p>Dr. Di Biase is the author of more than 450 publications in indexed journals, about 500 abstracts, and 18 electrophysiology book chapters. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences as an invited speaker.</p>
<p class="lessPadding">Dr. Di Biase is a member of the Italian Federation of Cardiology and Electrophysiology (FIC-AIAC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS), and the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is also an honorary member of the Korean Society of Cardiology.</p>
<p class="lessPadding">Dr Di Biase serves as reviewer of major electrophysiology and cardiology journals, and as an editorial board member of&nbsp;<em>Heart Rhythm Journal</em>,&nbsp;<em>Heart Rhythm Journal Case Report</em>, and&nbsp;<em>Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine</em>. He is Associate Editor for&nbsp;<em>Journal Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology (JICE)</em>&nbsp;and Associate Section Editor for&nbsp;<em>Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology (PACE)</em>.</p>

<p>Leandro Slipczuk Bustamante, MD, PhD, FACC is a board certified cardiologist,&nbsp; Director of the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Program and the Cardiovascular Atherosclerosis and Lipid Disorder Center at Montefiore Cardiology Division. Additionally, Dr. Slipczuk is an Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is the treatment of coronary artery disease, familial hypercholesterolemia and lipid disorders in both prevention and established diseases, cardiometabolic disorders, hypertension, valvular heart disease and heart failure with a comprehensive clinical and multimodality imaging approach.</p><p>In 2007, Dr. Slipczuk received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires. He continued studying at this institution, and in 2010 received his Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Slipczuk began his postgraduate training with a residency in internal medicine at Einstein Medical Center, which he completed in 2013. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology and advanced cardiovascular imaging in 2016 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Slipczuk&rsquo;s research focus is on the identification of high-risk patients and plaque features, lipid disorders, cardiovascular imaging and valvular heart disease. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and articles.</p><p>Dr. Slipczuk is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in cardiovascular CT, comprehensive adult echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. <p>Dr. Anna Bortnick earned her medical degree and doctorate in Cardiovascular Biology from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a master's degree in clinical research methods from Yeshiva University through the Clinical Research Training Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She joined the Division of Cardiology from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed fellowships in both interventional and general cardiology with a focus in structural heart disease, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Dr. Bortnick's research has been funded by grants from the American Heart Association, Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program and the Albert Einstein Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. Her research is centered on cardiac aging, including biomarkers and genetics of cardiac calcification. She co-founded the Maternal Fetal Medicine-Cardiology Joint Program at Montefiore, which has gained national recognition for treatment of high risk cardiac disease in pregnancy, and served as a member of the Einstein IRB and Course Director for Cardiology Grand Rounds. She is&nbsp;the Program Director for the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program. Dr. Bortnick is ABIM Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine and draws upon her expertise in invasive procedures to provide patients with comprehensive care of cardiac disease.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Anna E. Bortnick, MD, is Associate Director, Structural and Valvular Heart Disease, Program Director, Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and Co-Founder and <br />Co-Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine-Cardiology Joint Program at Montefiore. She is also Assistant Professor of Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bortnick specializes in interventional procedures for high risk patients.</p><p>In 1997, Dr. Bortnick received her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology at Chestnut Hill College. She then attended Drexel University College of Medicine from 1997 to 2005, where she received her Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy. In 2005, she received the Rubin Award from Drexel University for academic and clinical medicine. Following this, Dr. Bortnick received her Master in Clinical Research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2018. She began her postgraduate training in 2005 with a year-long internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital. In 2008, she completed a residency in internal medicine at the same institute. From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Bortnick trained at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, completing fellowships in general cardiology and interventional cardiology. Upon completion, she continued her training in 2015 at Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine with a fellowship in the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program.</p><p>Her research focuses on cardiac aging, including biomarkers and genetics of cardiac calcification. Dr. Bortnick&rsquo;s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, articles, books and she has presented her work nationally.</p><p>Dr. Bortnick is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. </p>
