He specializes in the treatment of complex arrhythmias, particularly in catheter ablation of atrial arrhythmias and ventricular tachycardia using cutting-edge technology. <p>Improving patient care is the heart of Dr. Di Biase's mission. He believes that this is possible through dedicated clinical practice associated to cutting-edge clinical research. Dr. Di Biase's research focuses on cardiology and electrophysiology with specific emphasis on catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias performed either manually or with robotic catheter navigation. Additionally, his research focuses on heart failure, particularly cases treated with cardiac resynchronization therapy devices.</p>
<p>Dr. Di Biase, MD, PhD, FACC, FHRS, is a 2000 graduate (summa cum laude) of the medical school and a 2004 graduate (summa cum laude) of the cardiology residency program at the University of Bari, Bari, Italy. In 2006, he completed a second-level master degree in Electrophysiology and Pacing (summa cum laude) at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy.</p>
<p>In 2007, Dr. Di Biase received a grant from the Italian National Society of Cardiology to pursue a research fellowship under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Natale at the Miller Family Heart &amp; Vascular Institute at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. The following year, he accepted a position in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Texas Medical School Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he continued to focus on his research projects at St. David's Medical Center under the leadership of Dr. Natale.</p>
<p>Dr. Di Biase was appointed Assistant Professor in 2007 at the University of Foggia, Italy, where he completed the PhD program in cardiovascular physiopathology in November 2010.</p>
<p>In 2009, Dr. Di Biase was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was promoted to Adjunct Associate Professor in 2012, the same year he joined Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center&nbsp;with the title of Associate Professor, Department of Medicine (Cardiology).</p>
<p>In September 2014 Dr. Di Biase was appointed Section Head of Electrophysiology and Director of Arrhythmia Services at Einstein/Montefiore, while continuing to serve as Senior Researcher at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute at St. David's Medical Center.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Subsequently Dr. Di Biase was promoted to the rank of Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine (Cardiology).</p>
<p>Dr. Di Biase is the author of more than 450 publications in indexed journals, about 500 abstracts, and 18 electrophysiology book chapters. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences as an invited speaker.</p>
<p class="lessPadding">Dr. Di Biase is a member of the Italian Federation of Cardiology and Electrophysiology (FIC-AIAC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS), and the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is also an honorary member of the Korean Society of Cardiology.</p>
<p class="lessPadding">Dr Di Biase serves as reviewer of major electrophysiology and cardiology journals, and as an editorial board member of&nbsp;<em>Heart Rhythm Journal</em>,&nbsp;<em>Heart Rhythm Journal Case Report</em>, and&nbsp;<em>Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine</em>. <p>Lili Zhang, MD, is Director, Cardio-Oncology Program and Assistant Professor, Cardiology at Montefiore Einstein. A non-invasive cardiologist and a cardiac imaging specialist, Dr. Zhang&rsquo;s clinical focus is in Cardio-Oncology, cardiomyopathy, general cardiology, echocardiography and multimodality cardiac imaging.</p><p>In 2007, Dr. Zhang earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at Peking University, Beijing, China. Further education and postdoctoral training brought her to the U.S., completing her Master of Science in Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2011. She then came to Einstein, completing her residency in internal medicine in 2015 and her fellowship in cardiology in 2018. In 2019, Dr. Zhang completed her fellowship in Cardio-Oncology and cardiac imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital.</p><p>Dr. Zhang&rsquo;s research focuses on cardiotoxicity of cancer therapy, immune checkpoint inhibitor myocarditis, cardiovascular care and the application of multimodality imaging and machine-learning techniques in cardiovascular disease. Her research experience includes retrospective studies, prospective cohorts (ARIC and CHS), large multi-cohort consortiums (CHARGE and PAGE consortiums), randomized clinical trials (PROMISE trial), and international collaborative registries (international immune checkpoint inhibitor myocarditis registry and Global Cardio Oncology Registry). She has shared her work through more than 60 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and abstract publications.</p><p>Dr. Zhang is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and is a member of the American Heart Association and the international Cardio-Oncology Society. In 2021, she was awarded the Glorney-Raisbeck Junior Faculty Research Award in Cardiovascular Disease by New York Academy of Medicine.</p>

<p>Jim Tauras, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist, Assistant Professor, Medicine and
Course Director,Cardiovascular Diseases Physiology and Pathophysiology at
Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Tauras&rsquo; major clinical interests include critical
care cardiology, congestive heart failure and cardiac amyloidosis.
</p><p>After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in biological engineering from Cornell
University in 1995, Dr. Tauras earned his Doctor of Medicine at Weill Cornell
Medical College in 2003. He then came to Montefiore Einstein to complete an
internal medicine internship in 2004, an internal medicine residency in 2006
and a cardiology fellowship in 2009.
</p><p>Dr. Tauras has been site principal investigator for multiple national and
international clinical trials regarding novel therapeutics for acute heart
failure and cardiac amyloidosis. His work has been published in numerous
peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, review articles and abstracts, and he
has given several invited presentations.
</p><p>Dr. Tauras is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in

He continued studying at this institution, and in 2010 received his Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Slipczuk began his postgraduate training with a residency in internal medicine at Einstein Medical Center, which he completed in 2013. He then completed a fellowship in cardiology and advanced cardiovascular imaging in 2016 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Slipczuk&rsquo;s research focus is on the identification of high-risk patients and plaque features, lipid disorders, cardiovascular imaging and valvular heart disease. <p class="MsoNormal">Daniel Sims, MD, FAHA, FACC, serves as the Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program and is the Medical Director of the Moses Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Dr. Sims is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Fellow of the American Heart Association (AHA), and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Originally from Bellmore, NY, Dr. Sims graduated from Yale University with a BA in history in 1999. He attended medical school at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, graduating in 2003. He stayed at Emory for his 3-year internal medicine internship and residency training, finishing in 2006. He was selected to stay an additional one year to serve as the chief resident at the Emory University Hospital. Dr. Sims did his 3-year cardiology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center and served as chief cardiology fellow during his final year, finishing in 2010. He completed an additional one-year advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Columbia in 2011. Dr. Sims returned to Emory to serve on the cardiology faculty and as a member of the Center for Heart Failure Therapy and Transplantation.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">After 2 years, Dr. Sims was recruited to Montefiore in 2013 to be the Medical Director for the Moses CICU and a member of the cardiac transplant and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) team. At Montefiore, Dr. Sims has been active in clinical research involving heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac critical care, cardiac transplantation, and LVADs. He has mentored numerous residents and fellows on research projects. Dr. Sims served 2 2-year terms as a member of the AHA&rsquo;s Acute Cardiac Care Committee and has been a member of the AHA writing groups for scientific statements on neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest, management of fulminant myocarditis, the prevention of complications in the CICU, and escalating and de-escalating temporary mechanical circulatory support devices. Dr. Sims is a two-time winner of the Department of Medicine&rsquo;s Sharon R. Silbiger Faculty Teaching Award as the subspecialist of the year.
