Learn with the World at Your Doorstep
Montefiore Einstein’s Wakefield Internal Medicine Residency Program offers the best of all worlds: the opportunity to practice in a community hospital setting, while enjoying all the advantages of a major academic center, in the one of the most breathtakingly diverse cities on the planet.
The program’s 77 residents themselves come from 20 different countries, making an individualized approach to training and advising an essential part of the program’s fabric.
Every one learns from each other, and most importantly, from providing hands - on care to a similarly diverse group of patients in the Bronx.
The program’s faculty include many physicians who trained here and appreciate the unique challenges
and rewards that come with serving a historically underserved population. Residents here grow and thrive with the deeply - rooted support of program leadership, our faculty educators, and each other. Everyone at Wakefield wants you to succeed and is invested in helping you become the physician you aspire to be, whether that includes a focus on research, education, hospital medicine, ambulatory care, leadership, quality improvement, or any combination of the above. Residency graduates emerge with a strong foundation in internal me dicine, well - prepared for fellowship training or whatever the next step in their careers may be.
If you value close collaboration, open communication, and learning in a diverse environment with a strong commitment to health equity, Wakefield may be a great fit for you. Our leadership team is always seeking to make the program even better, and we encourage our residents to be active participants in that process.
More than anything else, residents at Wakefield consistently talk about the closeknit community there, one that makes it an ideal homebase during a period when you
’ll experience exponential learning. If this sounds like a place you envision yourself, we encourage you to reach out with questions, and to apply.
Sincerely,
