Elise Ruan, MD, MPH

Elise Ruan, MD, MPH

Dr. Elise Ruan earned her bachelors from MIT in brain and cognitive science with an interest in computational cognitive science, then went on to complete a dual MD/MPH program at Tufts University. She is currently an Internal Medicine Resident at Montefiore Einstein, where she has been involved in clinical informatics research in critical care patients and provider impact of COVID-19. Her interests include development of clinical decision support tools, machine learning and improving healthcare experience for patients and providers.


Ari Feinberg, MD

Ari Feinberg, MD

A current PGY-3 in Internal Medicine, Ari Feinberg studied computer science as an undergraduate at Oberlin College and spent a year as a software developer at an Electronic Health Record company prior to attending medical school at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. His passions include leveraging the EHR for data analysis, optimizing EHR implementation and usage to facilitate the generation of discrete data and efficient communication between clinicians, and developing patient-centered technology to promote care of chronic conditions in the outpatient setting. After residency he plans to pursue a fellowship in cardiology.


Joseph Mathew, MD

Joseph Mathew, MD

Joe Mathew is an internal medicine resident at Montefiore Medical Center. He graduated from Brown University in 2014 with a bachelor's in biophysics and from Boston University Medical School in 2019 with an MD. He was also the founder of PlutoPrep/MedFellow, a medical education start-up whose goal was to guide students from the beginning of their undergraduate education through matriculation and completion of medical school. The company was accepted to the Plug and Play accelerator in Sunnyvale, California and had about twenty employees at its peak. Though Joe eventually closed the company to focus on his medical career. He continues to work on innovative teaching methods at the medical school and with his own private students.


Daanish Chawala, MD, MBA

Daanish Chawala, MD, MBA

Daanish is currently a PGY-3 for the 2021-2022 academic year, as well as a rising chief resident. He completed his dual degree MD/MBA from Cornell University's Weill Medical College and SC Johnson Graduate School of Management. His interests revolve mostly around hospital operations and how software and information management systems solutions could address operational inefficiencies in the hospital.


Daniel Reef, MD

Daniel Reef, MD

Daniel grew up in Westchester, NY, and went to college at Columbia where he studied neuroscience and first became acquainted with medical research. After graduating, Daniel applied his knowledge to developing monoclonal antibodies at Regeneron. While attending company seminars and reading the literature, he became fascinated with our rapidly evolving understanding of immunology and how it opened new avenues to improve outcomes for patients, particularly those with cancer. Over the next few years, Daniel pursued his medical education at New York Medical College and took on projects studying cancer and immunology. He came to Montefiore for internal medicine training.
