Jacobi Medical Center is part of the North Bronx Healthcare Network of New York City's Health and Hospitals Corporation. The 475-bed teaching hospital is affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Jacobi offers numerous centers of excellence including a trauma center, multi-person hyperbaric unit, burn center, stroke center and regional perinatal center.
Residents rotate in a busy neurologic consultation service. As Jacobi mostly serves the under-insured and culturally diverse residents of the Bronx, residents are exposed to a broad range of neurologic disorders, from the most common to the rarest. Residents work together with a busy emergency department, as well as the medical, surgical, obstetrics, psychiatric, and rehabilitation units.
Subspecialty rotations in stroke, neuromuscular disorders and EMG, movement disorders, and neuroradiology are likewise established.
Residents attend their robust continuity clinic in Jacobi's new ambulatory care pavilion, allowing provision of high-quality care in a modern environment.
With vastly diverse neurologic cases, complemented by clinical expertise and modern facilities, Jacobi provides a uniquely rich neurology residency training experience.
Dr Lenore Ocava is the Associate Program Director of Neurology and the Site Director for resident education at Jacobi.
