While students are strongly encouraged to choose one of the six standard Scholarly Paper (SP) options, it is permissible to propose another type of SP to the Office of Medical Student Research (OMSR). However, you must clear an extra layer of approval in order to proceed with your proposed research and paper: OMSR must approve your SP proposal before you submit it to the Medical Student Research Projects site for your mentor to approve. Please see below for detailed instructions.
- Submit a draft SP proposal to the Office of Medical Student Research via email (omsr@einsteinmed.edu) by September 15 of the 4th year of medical school. Please cc your mentor as well.
- After receiving formal approval from OMSR in writing, you may submit your SP proposal to the Medical Student Research Projects site for your mentor to formally approve. All SP proposals must be submitted to the Medical Student Research Projects site by October 15 of the the 4th year of medical school.
- All SPs must include a rigorous synthesis of an aspect of the medical-, health-, or science-related literature to address a specific question.
