Dr. Priti Mishall’s expertise is in areas of anatomy, embryology and medical education. Dr. Mishall focuses on teaching in the areas of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME). For the UME, Dr. Mishall Co-Directs the Anatomy course for first-year MD program. Dr. Mishall is the Director of the Anatomical Donation Program and is a course faculty member for the second-year Nervous system and Human Behavior course. She is a small group facilitator for the Problem-Based Learning sessions in Preclerkship and Transition to Clerkship. Dr. Mishall mentors fourth year elective students and students interested to pursue projects on creating and evaluating anatomy education learning resources. In the area of GME, Dr. Mishall conducts workshops for residents and fellows revisiting cadaver anatomy labs. Her clinical collaborators include Departments of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Rheumatology. Dr. Mishall is a passionate about faculty development in area of medical education and is a course faculty at Harvard Macy Institutes’ course “Transforming your teaching using Technology”. Dr. Mishall is an active member of American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA) and International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE). She is past chair of the Education Affairs Committee of AACA. She is currently the member of the Career Development Committee of AACA.
Dr. Mishall earned her medical degree at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, and completed her residency in Human Anatomy at Seth G. S Medical College and K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai. She received her postgraduate certification in Medical Education (PGcertME) at University of Dundee, UK. Dr. Mishall develops e-learning video modules using the principle of universal design for learning that applies the science of learning and pedagogical theories to design effective and engaging videos. She implements blended learning/ flipped classroom instructional methods to teach human embryology. Her research interests are in the areas of medical education and anatomical variations. In the area of medical education, she studies medical students’ perceptions of the learning experiences using flipped instructional method. She developed training modules to enhance procedural skills for medical students and residents. In the area of anatomical variations, her research interests focus on the extra hepatic biliary apparatus and its clinical significance. She also mentors first year students who publish research articles on cadaveric variations.
Dr. Mishall was selected by the Einstein students as a recipient of the Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching (Pre-Clerkship). This award is in acknowledgement of her significant contributions and excellence in teaching in the basic science education of Einstein students. Dr. Mishall was elected by her peers at Einstein for the Harry Eagle Award for Outstanding Teaching (Pre-Clerkship). This award is in acknowledgement of her years of teaching excellence and her educational contribution as a dedicated course-director and innovative educator. Dr. Mishall was inducted in the Leo M. Davidoff Society that recognizes distinguished, caring and committed teaching of Medical Students of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She was invited to teach University of Oxford’s summer course, “The Principles of Clinical Anatomy”. In addition to her teaching, research and administrative pursuits, Dr. Mishall enjoys creative writing and routinely contributes to the Einstein literary magazine Ad Libitum.
