Elyssa A. Scharaga
<p>Elyssa A. Scharaga, PhD, is Associate Director, Neuropsychological Assessment Services at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Scharaga’s clinical practice includes the evaluation and treatment of individuals diagnosed with neurological, medical and psychiatric conditions across the lifespan, such as neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, traumatic brain injuries, infectious diseases and movement disorders.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The George Washington University in 2009, Dr. Scharaga earned her Master of Arts in clinical psychology at Yeshiva University in 2013. She then earned her Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology with a health emphasis at the same institution in 2016. In 2016, she completed an internship in neuropsychology at the Northport Veteran Affairs Medical Center. She completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in geriatric neuropsychology from the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in 2018.</p><p>Dr. Scharaga's research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive disorders due to chronic medical conditions, including cardiovascular disease and infectious diseases. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed publications, and she has shared her work at international and national conferences.</p><p>Dr. Scharaga is a licensed psychologist and member of several professional societies, including the InternationalNeuropsychological Society and the American Psychological Association Division 40, where she is an Education Advisory Committee Member.</p>
