<p>Christina J. Yang, MD, is Director, Pediatric Dysphagia Program; Associate Director, Pediatric Otolaryngology Quality Assurance and Assistant Professor at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Yang&rsquo;s clinical interests include airway and swallowing disorders in children, endoscopic and open airway reconstruction and tracheotomy.</p><p>A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Yang received her Bachelor of Arts in 2004, and continued at the institution&rsquo;s Feinberg School of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2008. She began her postdoctoral education at Tulane University School of Medicine, completing her residency in otolaryngology&ndash;head and neck surgery in 2013. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Cincinnati Children&rsquo;s Hospital Medical Center, completing it in 2015.</p><p>Dr. Yang&rsquo;s research focuses on the application of healthcare simulation to medical education, patient safety, quality improvement and implementation science. <p>Michel Nassar, MD, MSc, is Director, AeroDigestive Program at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore, and Co-Director, CranioFacial Clinic and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Nassar takes a multidisciplinary approach to patients with complex aerodigestive disease. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Medicine at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Mehta completed an internship in general surgery at St. Vincent&rsquo;s Catholic Medical Center in 2007. He then completed a residency in otolaryngology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. In 2012, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He also attended Johns Hopkins University where he received his Master of Public Health in 2015.</p><p>Currently, Dr. Mehta is interested in researching the clinical outcomes in head and neck cancer patients, and patients with thyroid conditions, cost-effectiveness, quality of care and systems improvements. He also serves as the Quality Improvement Coordinator for the Montefiore Einstein Cancer Committee and received a green belt in Lean Six Sigma training in 2022. Biography

<p>Mona Gangar, MD, MS, is Director. Medical Students; Co-director, Pediatric thyroid program; Faculty Advisor, ENT interest group and Assistant Professor of Otorhinolaryngology&ndash;Head &amp; Neck Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. Her clinical interests are in all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology with a focus on pediatric head and neck pathology, and special interests in pediatric thyroid disease, vascular anomalies, resident/medical student education and global health.</p><p>In 1999, Dr. Gangar received her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California Los Angeles. She attended MCP Hahnemann University from 2000 to 2002, earning her Master of Science in medical science. She then attended New York Medical College to pursue her Doctor of Medicine degree, earning it in 2006. Her postdoctoral training included an otorhinolaryngology&ndash;head and neck surgery residency at Einstein from 2006 to 2011, followed by a yearlong fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Rady&rsquo;s Children&rsquo;s Hospital, which she completed in 2012.</p><p>Dr. Gangar&rsquo;s research focuses on all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology. She has shared her work through publication in journals and podium and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Gangar is board certified and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology&ndash;Head and Neck Surgery and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.</p>

<p>Dr Fried's research interests are in the realm of technical applications for the improvement of surgery as it relates to disorders of the head and neck. This has included laser applications and safety, computer-assisted and image-guided surgery, and surgical simulation. He has been the principal investigator on grants issues by the Department of Defense, as well as current investigator from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.He is currently investigating the use of sophisticated surgical simulation for training of residents and physicians for endoscopic sinus surgery and its relationship to the improvement of patient safety. He has authored over 150 original reports, reviews, and chapters, as well as books and monographs. He has been the Senior Editor of two editions of a definitive textbook on laryngeal disorders.</p>

<p>His awards include first place award for Basic Research in Otolaryngology as a Resident from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology (1975), the Edmund Prince Fowler Award for Basic Science Research from the American Laryngological, Rhinological, and Otological Society (Triologic Society) 1984, the Honor Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 1988, and the Mark Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Laser Medicine and Surgery in 1994 from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He received the Medal of the City of Paris in 1987. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America; Best Doctors in New York (Castle Connolly Medical LTD), as well as in "New York's Top 100 Minimally Invasive Surgeons," and "New York's Best Doctors" (New York Magazine). He has been President of the Society of University Otolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has been President of the American Rhinologic Society, and is the current president of the American Laryngological Association. <p>A New York native, Marvin P. Fried, MD, graduated from City College of New York, where he received the prestigious New York City Jonas Salk Award and Scholarship. After earning his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Fried trained in Otolaryngology at Washington University School of Medicine, where he also was a Fellow of the National Institute of Neurologic Disease and Stroke. He then served as Surgeon (Commander) in the United States Public Health Service in Virginia. His first faculty appointment was at Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine, which was followed by 17 years at Harvard Medical School, where he became Professor of Otology and Laryngology. He also served as Chief of Divisions of Otolaryngology at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Fried has received numerous awards, including the Honor Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Mark Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Laser Medicine and Surgery from the American Society for Laser Medicine Surgery and the Medal of the City of Paris for the First International Symposium offered by Harvard Medical School. He has been listed as a Top Doctor in America by Castle Connolly and among &ldquo;New York&rsquo;s Best Doctors&rdquo; by New York Magazine and The New York Times. He has also held various national positions and contributed to various publications and journals. Additionally, he wrote the nation&rsquo;s definitive two-volume text on vocal restoration and rehabilitation, entitled, The Larynx, which is used in medical schools across the nation and includes 1,751 pages of medical information and illustrations.</p>

<p>John Bent, MD, is Program Director, Pediatric Otolaryngology&ndash;Head &amp; Neck Surgery and Professor, Otolaryngology&ndash;Head &amp; Neck Surgery and Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. His clinical focus is on all aspects of pediatric otolaryngology.</p><p>In 1989, Dr. Bent graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine, where he also completed an internship in general surgery in 1990. He completed his otolaryngology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in 1994, followed by a yearlong pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at the University of Iowa.</p><p>Dr. Bent&rsquo;s research focus is in minimally invasive surgery in children with ear, nose and throat disorders and innovations in resident education. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and chapters, of which recent subjects include intracapsular tonsillectomy, laryngomalacia, and resident education. In 2006, he wrote a successful thesis that led to his acceptance to the prestigious Triological Society. He has presented his work at national and regional meetings, and has won many national research awards, including from the American Broncho-Esophalogical Association and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. In addition to publishing his research in many peer-reviewed journals, he reviews scientific manuscripts for six different otolaryngology journals and is on the Editorial Board of the <em>Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Bent received Einstein&rsquo;s Teacher of the Year Award in the Department of Otolaryngology&ndash;Head &amp; Neck Surgery in 2010. He has been annually named among Best Doctors in America since 2005, Castle Connolly Top Metro Area Doctors since 2009 and New York Super Doctors since 2012. He belongs to numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Otolaryngology&ndash;Head and Neck Surgery, the Society for Ear, Nose &amp; Throat Advances in Children and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. Dr. Bent earned board certification by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Otolaryngology.</p>
