Event Description
Dr. Bobbi Pritt, MD, MSc, FCAP, DTMH, Chair, Division of Clinical Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Mayo Clinic, is an expert Pathologist and Clinical Microbiologist, and specializes in parasitic and vector-borne illnesses, as well as the pathology of infectious diseases. She is the author of a successful parasitology blog entitled “Creepy Dreadful Wonderful Parasites,” and has an enormous media following. If you are not already following her blog, be sure to subscribe for weekly cases that will keep you questioning! Dr. Pritt has conducted extensive work in the parasitology field, and her research has largely contributed to improved molecular testing and diagnostic processes for various infections, including malaria.
Dr. Pritt will run a two part series focusing on malaria diagnostics. During the first interactive, online session, Dr. Pritt will provide an overview of malaria diagnostics, including the use of RDTs. The second session will review the morphological features of malaria infections and an interactive quiz using real blood films. This unique experience will provide expert insight into how to approach malaria diagnostics, and will be perfect for interested clinicians, pathologists, and microbiologists.
