Occupational Health Service
The Occupational Health Service at Albert Einstein College of Medicine assists M.D. students, dual M.D./Ph.D. students, and Ph.D. students with satisfying health requirements to participate in medical school and clinical training, as well as new employees with meeting health requirements based on occupational risk.
We also perform annual health assessments mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, provide consultation and care for needlestick and other occupational exposures to bloodborne pathogens, and answer COVID-related questions about returning to school or work.

Health Requirements for New Students
Albert Einstein College of Medicine requires that incoming students meet mandatory health entrance requirements prior to matriculation. Newly admitted students should begin this process as soon as possible to allow ample time to gather health information, complete necessary screening, and receive needed immunizations.
Complete the mandatory Einstein health packet to document your medical history, physical examination, blood work, and the receipt of certain vaccinations prior to your arrival. The following elements must be provided to Einstein’s Occupational Health Service:
- Mandatory health packet for incoming M.D. students
- Mandatory health packet for incoming M.D./Ph.D. students
- Mandatory health packet for incoming Ph.D. students

Needlestick and Other Occupational Exposures
Einstein’s Occupational Health Service provides consultations and emergency care to matriculated and visiting students who experience accidental exposure to blood or other bodily fluids during their training. If you experience a needlestick, a splash, or another event involving contact with bodily fluids, it is important that you seek medical attention at the closest emergency room within two hours of the incident to prevent possible transmission of a pathogen. If the exposure takes place after hours or at an off-campus location, go to the closest emergency room and notify us of your treatment as soon as possible. Please contact Einstein’s Occupational Health Service at 718-430-3141 to report your injury as soon as possible. After initial treatment, contact the Student Health Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at 347-498-2461 for ongoing follow-up care.
