Professional Interests

Mary Woesner, M.D. is a clinical psychiatrist, administrator, and medical educator. Her interests include the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as psychosis and dementia, medical student education, and the use of first-hand accounts to educate patients, families, and trainees about mental illness. She is currently the Director of Medical Student Training at the Bronx Psychiatric Center (BPC) and site director for the third-year psychiatry clerkship. She is board certified in psychiatry and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Her education awards include the APA’s Nancy C. A. Roeske, MD, Certificate of Excellence in Medical Student Education and membership in the Leo M. Davidoff Society of AECOM for “Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students.”

Dr. Woesner completed her psychiatric residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/BPC and the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center/WD. She completed a fellowship in schizophrenia at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center/WD and a fellowship in education at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She received her M.D. degree from the SUNY at Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine and her B.A. with honors from SUNY at Binghamton. Dr. Woesner has published and presented at national meetings in her areas of expertise.
