Lewis P. Singer, M.D. is Chief of the Division of Critical Care Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He attended medical school at the Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia, Università di Bologna, Bologna, Italy, and New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, graduating from New Jersey Medical School in 1977. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Society while at New Jersey Medical School. He completed his Pediatric training (1980), Chief Residency (1981), and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship (1983), all at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Singer has been a faculty member of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Chief, Pediatric Critical Care throughout his academic career. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and has been elected to the American College of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Singer is a facilitator for problem based learning for third year Einstein clerks in Pediatrics and received the William Obrinsky Medical Student Teaching Award in 1999. He has been and is currently the Training Program Director of the Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
