Dr. Gittler&rsquo;s clinical areas of focus include all areas of pediatric dermatology, including eczema, vascular and other birthmarks, acne, genetic skin disorders and other pediatric dermatologic conditions.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Dr. Gittler earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences in 2008 and graduated summa cum laude. From 2008 to 2013, she attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Medicine and earning distinction in dermatology research through a research fellowship at the Rockefeller University. Her training also includes completion of a yearlong pediatrics internship at Cohen Children&rsquo;s Medical Center in 2014, a three-year dermatology residency at New York University in 2017 and a yearlong pediatric dermatology fellowship at Columbia University in 2018.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-pagination: widow-orphan;">Following her clinical interests, Dr. Gittler&rsquo;s research focus is on pediatric dermatology. Her work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals. She has also shared her research through poster presentations and lectures at regional and national conferences.</p>

His postdoctoral training began with an internship in internal medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, followed by a clinical research fellowship at Northwestern University. <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:'Calibri',sans-serif;">Tobi Klar, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Klar&rsquo;s clinical expertise includes general dermatological procedures, as well as more complex procedures such as the treatment of psoriasis and inflammatory dermatoses with phototherapy, topical therapy and biologic therapy. Dr. Klar also treats cancers of the skin including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.<span>&nbsp; </span>She has advanced training and extensive experience treating adults and children for general dermatological conditions, including rashes, acne, rosacea and eczema. She also performs skin cancer screenings and treats premalignant and malignant conditions.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:'Calibri',sans-serif;">After earning her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate in 1981, Dr. Klar continued at the institution for her postdoctoral training, completing her Internal Medicine Internship in 1982, her Internal Medicine Residency in 1983 and her Dermatology Residency in 1986.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:'Calibri',sans-serif;">Dr. Klar&rsquo;s research interests are in treatment options for acne, psoriasis and eczema. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:'Calibri',sans-serif;">Dr. Klar is board certified and is a member of several professional associations including the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound and the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society.</span></p>

<p>Dr. Holly Kanavy completed a B.S. in Biochemistry with Departmental Honors in Neuroscience at Stony Brook University and a medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she received the A.T. Still Memorial Scholarship Award and was a member of the Psi Sigma Alpha National Osteopathic Scholastic Honor Society. Following an internship at North Shore/LIJ Plainview Hospital, Dr. Kanavy completed two fellowships, one in Melanoma Translational Research at NYU Langone Medical Center, and another in Dermatopharmacology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed a dermatology residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, serving as chief resident.</p>
<p>Dr. Kanavy is currently active in the study of dermoscopic patterns of acral nevi. She has received several awards and grants, including the A.P. Ublrich Research Award for her work in the study of acral nevi and the Bayer Healthcare Writing Grant Competition for her study of skin cancer chemoprevention.&nbsp; She has contributed to numerous dermatology journals and textbooks, including <em>Archives in Dermatology, Photodermatology, Photoimmunology &amp; Photomedicine, </em><em> Journal of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, </em>and<em> Cancer of the Skin.</em></p>

<p>Dr. Caroline Halverstam is an associate professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Dermatology at Jacobi Medical Center. She did her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and completed an internship at New York University. She did residency in dermatology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, where she served as Chief resident during her final year.</p>
<p>She is a board-certified dermatologist and member of the American Academy of Dermatology, New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery and New York Academy of Medicine, Dermatology division. <p>Dr. Halverstam focuses her career on complex medical dermatology and resident and student education. Biography

<p>Caroline Halverstam, MD, FAAD, is an attending dermatologist and Associate Professor at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Halverstam&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of general and complex medical dermatology including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss, vitiligo, skin cancer and autoimmune conditions.</p><p>In 2022, Dr. Halverstam received her Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University. She then pursued her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2007. She began her postgraduate training with an internship in internal medicine at New York University Medical Center, followed by a dermatology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, which she completed in 2011, taking on the role of Chief Resident in her final year.</p><p>Dr. Halverstam has contributed to prominent dermatologic journals on the subjects of dermatologic education, complex medical dermatology and cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19. She has shared her work through book chapters and numerous invited presentations, and serves on the editorial board for the <em>Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology: Case Reports</em>.</p><p>Dr. Halverstam is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York and the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.</p>

<p>Dr. David Ciocon received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University (cum laude with HIgh Honors in History and Literature) and his M.D. from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Prior to his residency in dermatology, he completed three years of a combined general and plastic surgery residency training at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital as well as a one-year clinical research fellowship in psoriasis at Harvard University, Brigham &amp; Women's Hospital. He subsequently completed a dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident and recipient of the Leo M. Davidoff Award for Excellence in Teaching. He then completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser &amp; Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey under the guidance of Dr. David Goldberg in 2009.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Since 2013, Dr. Ciocon has served as the Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has also serves as the Director of Clinical Operations of the Dermatology Division of the Montefiore Medical Center.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Ciocon is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American College of Mohs Surgery. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cosmestic and Laser Therapy. He is a preceptor in the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor program.</p>
<p>Dr. Ciocon's clinical interests include Mohs Micrographic surgery, facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, laser-assisted tumescent liposuction, autologous fat transfer, laser medicine, and minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology. He has written multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbooks with respect to surgical and non-surgical approaches to cutaneous oncology, cutaneous reconstruction, and aesthetic rejuvenation.</p>

<p>David Ciocon, MD, is Director, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology and Director, Clinical Operations, Dermatology Division at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Dermatology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ciocon&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on Mohs micrographic surgery, cutaneous oncology, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and lasers.</p><p>After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1994, Dr. Ciocon earned his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers University in 2002. He completed an internship and residency in general and plastic surgery at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital in 2005 and became a dermatopharmacology research fellow at Harvard University, Brigham and Women's Hospital until 2006. Following this, Dr. Ciocon completed his dermatology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2009, where he was Chief Resident in his final year. He then completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey in 2010.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Ciocon&rsquo;s research is focused on Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and lasers. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books, book chapters and abstracts. He has also given many national presentations.</p><p>Dr. Ciocon is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology with a subspecialty certification in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.
