<p>Dr. Felise Milan is currently a Professor of Clinical Medicine, the Director of the Ruth L. Gottesman Clinical Skills Center, and the Director of the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Programs for pre-clerkship medical students at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She also directs the 4th-year Clinical Skills Assessment and Review Programs. Dr. Milan&rsquo;s academic She is chair of the Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) Student Assessment Committee. &nbsp;</p>
<p>interests include teaching and assessment of clinical skills (especially communication skills), performance based assessment, simulation for medical education, standard setting for assessments, psychosocial and behavioral medicine, complementary/alternative medicine and women&rsquo;s health.</p>
<p>Dr. Milan received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed her residency training (in Primary Care Internal Medicine) and fellowship (in Psychosocial Medicine) at Brown University. Following her training, Dr. Milan joined the faculty at Brown to direct the psychosocial and complementary/alternative medicine curricula for internal medicine residents and the medical interviewing course for first-year medical students. Dr. Milan returned to New York in 1999 to join the Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine faculty at Montefiore.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15.6pt;"><span style="font-size: 9.0pt;">Dr. Milan specializes in the education of medical students, including teaching and assessing communication and interpersonal skills in a clinical setting. She has participated in research to define and develop ways of assessing medical student competency. In addition, Dr. Milan has made important contributions to using feedback in medical education, integrating complementary and alternative medicine into modern clinical practice, and applying behavioral and psychiatric knowledge to the practice of primary care medicine.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 15.6pt;"><span style="font-size: 9.0pt;">Dr. Milan has presented her novel curriculum and educational models nationally and internationally. She currently serves as the director of the Ruth L. Gottesman Clinical Skills Center at Einstein, where students and residents learn in a simulated and monitored clinical setting. She also leads several key educational programs at Einstein for teaching and evaluating students&rsquo; clinical and interpersonal skills.</span></p>

<p><strong>Sean C. Lucan, MD, MPH, MS&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>Dr. Sean Lucan is a practicing family physician in the Bronx, NY treating children and adults in the Montefiore Health System.&nbsp; He is also an award-winning public-health researcher--at Albert Einstein College of Medicine--who has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and commentaries on food-related issues.&nbsp; Additionally, Dr. Lucan has co-authored one textbook on nutrition and another on biostatistics, epidemiology, preventive medicine, and public health.</p>
<p>Dr. Lucan earned his MD and MPH degrees at Yale before completing residency training in Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania.&nbsp; After residency, he completed a fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program, where he earned an MS in Health Policy Research.&nbsp; Dr. Lucan was a fellow at the National Academy of Medicine (formerly Institute of Medicine) from 2016 to 2018.</p>
<p>A focus of Dr. Lucan's research is how different aspects of urban food environments influence what people eat, and what the implications are for obesity and chronic diseases.&nbsp; Another focus of his work is the critical examination of both clinical guidance and public-health initiatives related to nutrition.</p>
<p>Dr. Lucan was PI on a new-investigator grant from the New York State Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program and PI on a training grant from the Einstein-Montefiore Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (“Translating nutritional knowledge to community dietary practices & improved health: the role of neighborhood food environments”). Dr. Lucan is PI on an NIH/NICHD-funded study: “Local food sources around home and school and adolescent dietary intake.”</p>

Dr. Lu was also Principal Investigator of several federal and municipal grants, including the SAMHSA award to expand addiction education for medical students and residents at Einstein and NYC Department of Health contracts to implement addiction nurse care management in primary care clinics at Montefiore.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Dr. Khalid is an associate professor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. She is board-certified in both internal medicine and addiction medicine. Dr. Khalid&rsquo;s interests lie in the judicious use of long-term opioid therapy and treatment of substance use disorders. She has developed and co-leads an innovative teaching clinic embedded in primary care where&nbsp;residents get an experiential medical education in long-term opioid therapy and patients receive guideline-adherent care. She is an eConsultant for opioid management of ambulatory patients at Montefiore. As a buprenorphine site champion, she supervises integration of treatment of opioid use within primary care. Biography

<p>Carol B. Kelly, MD, is an attending internal medicine physician and Assistant Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on teaching the next generation of internal medicine residents how to be skilled and compassionate primary care physicians.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in biology from Brown University in 1976, Dr. Kelly completed her Doctor of Medicine at the same institution in 1979. She then completed an internship at Duke University in 1980, followed by her internal medicine residency in 1982.</p><p>Dr. Kelly&rsquo;s research aligns with her clinical interests and focuses on teaching about advance directives and discussing goals of care with patients.</p><p>Dr. Kelly is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, and she is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. In 2019, she won the Leo M. Davidoff Education Award for Outstanding Teaching for Medical Students. In 2021, Dr. Kelly won the Montefiore Einstein Department of Medicine Award for selfless, courageous, and exemplary contributions to patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2022 she won the Sharon Silbiger Faculty Teaching Award for Outstanding General Internist/Primary Care Physician chosen by Montefiore internal medicine residents.</p>

She received her medical degree from Temple University and completed her residency in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program Track at Montefiore. She developed and completed training as a global health faculty fellow in the Global Health and Clinical Skills Fellowship at Montefiore. Her area of interest includes medical education, specifically in curriculum development and coaching. She has adapted and teaches a weight management curriculum for residents, developed and co-directs the clinical reasoning curriculum, and has refined the advocacy and women&rsquo;s health curriculum for the residency program. Her current curricular focus is the development of the Master Adaptive Learner model and structural competency in residency education.&nbsp; Prior to her current position, she served as Associate Program Director for the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program</span></li>

Biography

<p>Shwetha Iyer, MD, is Program Director, Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program and Associate Professor, Medicine and Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical interests include obesity medicine, lifestyle medicine and coaching patients toward their health goals.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in public health from Rutgers University in 2004, Dr. Iyer earned her Doctor of Medicine at Temple University in 2008. She then came to Einstein to complete her internship and residency in the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program in 2011 and a faculty fellowship in global health and clinical skills in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Iyer&rsquo;s research is focused on the development and evaluation of medical education, lifestyle interventions and structural competency. Her work has been published in numerous original communications in peer-reviewed journals as well as books, chapters and review articles. Dr. Iyer has given national and international invited presentations and has been Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on several funded research projects.</p><p>Dr. Iyer is board certified in Internal Medicine by the National Board of Medical Examiners and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine. In 2022, Dr. Iyer won the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Excellence in the Education of Medical Students.</p>
