<p>David Weithorn, MD, is a general surgeon and Assistant Professor, Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. A fellowship-trained minimally invasive general surgeon, Dr. Weithorn focuses on using minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery, to treat a wide range of surgical diseases, including gallstones (gallbladder removal), hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, diverticulitis, colon cancer, ventral and inguinal hernias including complex hernias, recurrent ventral and inguinal hernias, and neurectomy procedures for chronic inguinal pain after inguinal hernia repair.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Science from University of Florida in 2011, Dr. Weithorn attended the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2015. He completed his residency in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in 2020, then pursued fellowship in robotic/minimally invasive surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, training with pioneers in robotic surgery.</p><p>Dr. Weithorn is interested in outcomes-based research using minimally invasive surgical techniques to reduce morbidity and speed recovery for a wide range of general surgical conditions, especially acute and/or emergent surgical conditions. <p>Michele C. Siciliano, MD, is an acute care surgeon at Montefiore Einstein. She specializes in the care of patients who require urgent or emergent general surgical operations as well as critically ill patients in the Intensive Care unit. She also provides elective general surgical care.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology: Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire in 2003, Dr. Siciliano spent five years between undergraduate and medical schools working as an Athletic Trainer and Medical Assistant. She then attended the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel, from 2008 to 2012, earning her Doctor of Medicine. She completed her postdoctoral training with a residency in general surgery at Maine Medical Center in 2018, followed by a fellowship in surgical critical care at Duke University Medical Center in 2019. She then returned to New York, and spent two and a half years working as a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon for New York City Health and Hospitals: Harlem Hospital prior to joining Montefiore Einstein.</p><p>Dr. Siciliano is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma as well as the Society of Critical Care Medicine.</p>

Biography

<p>Sean P. McGrath, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon and Associate Professor, Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. With advanced training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotic surgery, Dr. McGrath&rsquo;s clinical focus is on care for patients with disorders of the skin, gallbladder and small bowel/colon. He also has an interest in the use of minimally invasive techniques for the repair of various inguinal, ventral and incisional hernias, as well as the treatment of skin and soft tissue conditions such as lumps, bumps, cysts and tumors.</p><p>After completing his Bachelor of Science in psychology at North Carolina State University, Dr. McGrath attended American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2012. From 2013 to 2018, he completed his general surgery residency at Greenville Health System, University of South Carolina School of Medicine.</p><p>His research interests include general and robotic surgery, surgical education and international medicine. He has shared his work through poster presentations, oral presentations and submissions to peer-reviewed journals.</p><p>Dr. McGrath is board certified in General Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Medical Association, among others.</p>

Biography

<p>Iyare Esemuede, MD, is an attending surgeon and Assistant Professor at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus is in minimally invasive and robotic surgery for the management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease. He also treats various anorectal diseases, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and anal fistulas, and manages some general surgical conditions such as gallbladder disease and appendicitis.</p><p>From 1999 to 2005, Dr. Esemuede pursued a combined Bachelor of Science and Medical Doctorate program at Howard University, earning his biology degree in 2003 and his medical degree in 2005. His postdoctoral training began with his general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital. In 2009, he completed his colorectal research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and graduated from residency in 2012. In 2015, he completed his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Grant Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Esemuede&rsquo;s research interests focus on colorectal diseases and surgical outcomes. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters, poster presentations and oral presentations, both regionally and nationally.</p><p>Dr. Esemuede is board certified by both the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.</p>
