Einstein Umbrella PhD Program
Rotations
You apply directly to our PhD program, not to a specific department. In the first year you will choose three lab rotations. This allows you to gain exposure many areas of research before making an informed decision about your thesis work.
Mentoring
Our graduate program is known for its high level of personalized mentoring. You choose a mentor who will guide you through your research, and an advisory committee to provide additional perspective and feedback to guide you through your thesis work. You meet regularly with the Directors of the Graduate Division at a variety of gatherings and develop an individualized curriculum based on your scientific background, interests, and goals.

- Qualifying exam workshops
1st Year Class Profile
The 2023 entering PhD class includes 39 graduate students. They were selected from an applicant pool of around 550 applicants. Below is a description of the incoming graduate students for the 2023 PhD class.
