Postdoc Appreciation Week

National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) is an annual celebration that recognizes the significant contributions postdoctoral fellows make to research and discovery. During NPAW, institutions from across the United States hold special events, and the Belfer Institute is pleased to celebrate Einstein postdocs during this week. We hope to create opportunities for you to cultivate meaningful relationships and advance your career.

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) will also host virtual webinars and networking events throughout the week, which can be viewed on the NPA website

Week of Events

2024 NPAW Kickoff Event: Owning Your Career
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Virtual
Speaker: Rashada Alexander, PhD

Albert Einstein is attributed with saying “In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.” Postdocs know this reality well, in that postdoctoral training is a crucial bridge between graduate training and fully launching an independent career, whatever and however you move in your field.

Just like the bridge is crucial, so are the skills with which you navigate it because it is yours, you are making the journey, and you own what happens. Let’s talk about how to do that with clear eyes (intentionality) and "elastic" strategies (resilience).

All Einstein postdocs can join the NPA as an affiliate individual member at no cost. Register to become a member using your Einstein email addressHosted by the National Postdoc Association (NPA)

In this workshop you will learn to recognize common mistakes that often derail the career paths of postdocs. These common mistakes often include poor time management, failure to reward accomplishments, succumbing to pessimism, and failure to take risks. By recognizing these mistakes, you will learn to maximize your potential and increase your career prospects.
