Analytical Imaging Facility

Door Code Policy

Hours of Operation:

AIF equipment is available to all trained users 24/7 on an unassisted basis. New users will be trained on microscopes between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, when staff are available to assist. Access to the AIF outside of these hours will only be permitted once the user demonstrates sufficient competency to use the microscope unsupervised. Please contact staff members at least a week before you will need assistance, as microscope availability is limited.

Access to Facility After Hours:

We encourage unassisted use of the AIF equipment at any time, however our policies regarding door access must be strictly followed.

All doors to the AIF are accessible by a swipe card system linked to your Einstein ID card. To access the AIF after hours, each user must have his/her own up-to-date Einstein I.D. card.  When you successfully complete training to use a microscope unassisted, you will be given card access to the room that houses that particular microscope.

Door Access Policy:

Each user has a unique access code.  Each user has a unique access code. The person to whom access is assigned is responsible for all entries to the AIF with their card. The expiration date of your access coincides with your Einstein I.D. card. If you lose your I.D. card, it is your responsibility to get a new one from the Einstein Security offices. If you get a new Einstein I.D. card, you must notify AIF staff to ensure microscope access.

Never give your card to another person.   Everybody who works after hours and who is allowed to work unassisted on a piece of equipment must have an Einstein I.D. card. People who are not allowed to work unassisted do not have access to the room. If somebody else is using your I.D. card and they cause a problem, you will be held responsible.

Do not let anybody else in.  If somebody else is coming into the AIF at the same time you are but they are not working with you, they must swipe their own card. This may seem impolite, but it protects you in case they mess up a piece of equipment. If they don't use their I.D. card because they enter on your coattails, we have to assume you are responsible for any problems.

Any infraction of the above may result in a loss of door access and your inability to work after hours unassisted. If we disable your access to a microscope room, we will contact you and your PI.
