<p>Stephen W. Reese, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Reese cares for patients with urologic cancers, using minimally invasive and open surgical approaches. He has a particular interest in the management of urologic cancers, including kidney, prostate, bladder, adrenal and testicular cancer and works to care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting with his colleagues in medical and radiation oncology. </p><p>In 2017, Dr. Reese received his Doctor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital in Boston, MA in 2022 and then completed a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2024.
</p><p>Dr. Reese&rsquo;s research builds on his clinical interests in the treatment of conditions of urologic cancers and specifically kidney cancer, understanding how to improve patient outcomes in patients with kidney cancer, from incidentally detected small renal masses to metastatic renal cell carcinoma and to understand the translational science behind kidney cancer. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and national conferences and has served as a reviewer for Nature Reviews Urology, British Journal Urology International and Urologic Oncology. </p><p>Dr. Reese is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO).

<p>Dima Raskolnikov, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Urology at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Raskolnikov specializes in minimally invasive surgery with a focus on complex kidney stone disease, robotic urinary tract reconstruction and kidney cancer.</p><p>In 2009, Dr. Raskolnikov graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and society. He then pursued his Doctor of Medicine degree at Downstate College of Medicine, State University of New York (SUNY Downstate). During this time, he also completed a research fellowship with the Urologic Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, NIH, from 2013 to 2014, graduating from SUNY Downstate with his MD with distinction in research in 2015. His postgraduate training took him to University of Washington, where he completed an internship in general surgery in 2016, a residency in urology in 2021 and a fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery in 2022.</p><p>Dr. Raskolnikov&rsquo;s research focuses on quality improvement programs that make urological care more effective and efficient. <p>Dr. Kara L. Watts, Associate Professor of Urology, joined the urology faculty at Montefiore in 2016. She completed a fellowship in Quality and Performance Improvement in Healthcare and an extended observership in focal ablation for prostate cancer in the UK. She serves as the Director of Quality Assurance and Improvement for the Department of Urology and leads the prostate cancer screening program.</p><p>Dr. Watts' clinical practice focuses on BPH, endourology, and prostate cancer detection and ablation. She also offers image-guided focal ablation for localized prostate cancer. She has a particular interest in active surveillance of prostate cancer and incorporating imaging modalities, particularly MRI imaging, into the diagnosis and treatment of localized prostate cancer.</p><p>Dr. Watts has numerous peer-reviewed publications, written several book chapters and co-edited a textbook. <p>Alexander C. Small, MD, is an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Small specializes in the treatment of urological diseases, cancer and kidney stones through the use of minimally invasive, robotic and endoscopic surgery.</p>
<p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Small attended Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, earning his Doctor of Medicine. He went onto his postdoctoral training at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center, completing a general surgery internship followed by a urology residency, acting as chief resident in his final year. He then pursued his fellowship in advanced minimally invasive urology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Beth Israel.</p>
<p>Dr. Small&rsquo;s research focuses on the development of novel techniques for urological surgery and the use of technology to improve outcomes for patients with kidney stones and kidney cancer. With his colleagues, he has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored numerous book chapters and presented 60 abstracts at national and international conferences. Dr. Small is also a reviewer for&nbsp;the Journal of Urology,&nbsp;Urology Gold Journal&nbsp;and the&nbsp;International Journal of Surgical Oncology.</p>
<p>Dr. Small has received numerous awards including the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at Mount Sinai, the International Volunteers in Urology (IVUmed) Traveling Resident Scholar Award from the New York Section of the American Urological Association, and the Columbia University Mitchell Benson Research Award for clinical research accomplishments during his residency. He is a member of the American Urological Association.</p>

Dr. Small specializes in the treatment of urological diseases, cancer and kidney stones through the use of minimally invasive, robotic and endoscopic surgery.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Small attended Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, earning his Doctor of Medicine. He went onto his postdoctoral training at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center, completing a general surgery internship followed by a urology residency, acting as chief resident in his final year. He then pursued his fellowship in advanced minimally invasive urology at Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Beth Israel.</p><p>Dr. Small&rsquo;s research focuses on the development of novel techniques for urological surgery and the use of technology to improve outcomes for patients with kidney stones and kidney cancer. With his colleagues, he has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored numerous book chapters and presented 60 abstracts at national and international conferences. Dr. Small is also a reviewer for <em>the Journal of Urology</em>, <em>Urology Gold Journal</em> and the <em>International Journal of Surgical Oncology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Small has received numerous awards including the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at Mount Sinai, the International Volunteers in Urology (IVUmed) Traveling Resident Scholar Award from the New York Section of the American Urological Association, and the Columbia University Mitchell Benson Research Award for clinical research accomplishments during his residency. He is a member of the American Urological Association.</p>
