The Aurion Immuno Gold Silver Staining Workshop

The Analytical Imaging Facility hosted am immuno gold workshop from May 12-14, 2009.  The course was taught by Peter van de Plas, an immuno gold expert, from Aurion (see bottom of this page for more information on Peter van de Plas).  Support was provided by Electron Microscopy Sciences.  The course focused on perfecting technique on existing post labeling immuno gold protocols as well as improving and advertising immuno gold pre-labeling with ultra small gold followed by silver enhancement at both the light and EM levels.  The itinerary included daily in depth lectures discussing technique and theory and afternoon laboratory sessions where participants practiced (and hopefully perfected) the techniques.  The final day, the students were able to see how their newly learned immuno gold methods worked by viewing their samples on the AIF's transmission electron microscopes.

Mr. Peter van de Plashas has a background in histology and immunocytochemistry and joined Aurion in 1991. During the pioneering phase of Aurion in the early nineties he worked closely together with Dr. Leunissen in founding a firm basis for Aurion.  He contributed not only to the development of product applications but also in designing the Aurion Immunogold Silver Staining workshop. He has been invited to many international microscopy conferences and workshops and is especially experienced in providing hands-on training. Former workshop attendees and customers appreciate Peter for his technical support on and his thorough knowledge of the immunogold silver staining techniques. The Aurion immunogold workshops in Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA have all been fully attended and were very well received.
