Histology and Comparative Pathology The Histotechnology and Comparative Pathology Facility provides comprehensive histology and histopathology support to Einstein investigators and the Animal Housing and Studies Facility. The facility performs most aspects of tissue evaluation, from necropsy to the final histological diagnostic evaluation. We support quality translational research by evaluating how the genetic background, environment and sex of the animals affect the study results or gene phenotype. The goal of the facility is to provide a high-quality histology service as well as to be a resource for understanding and translating in vivo data. Services Access the Services Tissue preparation – fixation or freezing, decalcification and routine processing to paraffin embedding Full-service necropsy, histology and cryosectioning (including many special stains) Immunohistochemistry and enzyme histochemistry of tissue sections Necropsy and histopathology reports Rental cryostat and microtome Routine hematology on a variety of laboratory animal species Related Shared Facilities Analytic Core LaboratoryAnalytical ImagingAnimal Housing and StudiesBehavioral Evaluation Center Affiliations Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center Selected Publications Nature Genetics. 2010 Jan;42(1):83-8 Nature. 2011 Jun 8;475(7355):222-5. doi: 10.1038 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA. 2010 Jul 27;10 Science Translational Medicine. 2011 Nov 16;3(109):109ra117 Location and Contacts Histology and Comparative Pathology Price Center/Block Research Pavillion 158 Nanette (Laura) RamkissoonOperations Director718-678-1535laura.ramkissoon@einsteinmed.edu
