Child Care Credit NIH Child Care Credit The NIH now provides childcare cost support to full-time predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees appointed on NRSA institutional research training awards that begin in Fiscal year 2022.Each full time NIH-NRSA-supported trainee is eligible to receive $2,500 per year for childcare costs provided by a licensed childcare provider. Childcare costs are permitted for dependent children living in the eligible trainee's home from birth to age 13, or children who are disabled and are under age 18. Childcare costs do not apply to elder or non-child dependent care costs. Types: Announcement of Childcare Costs for Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellows- new and administrative supplement applications must include the childcare cost request for the first year on the PHS Fellowship Supplemental Form, field 28b: Enter $2,500 for the Amount Enter 12 for the Number of Months Enter 'Childcare Costs' (without quotation marks) as the Type Enter NIH as the Source. Any additional years requested must be included in an attachment uploaded in the Other Attachments section of the R&R Other Project Information form.
