The Diabetes Prevention and Control Core provides access to faculty expertise in clinical diabetes research, behavioral intervention and evaluation research, social and environmental research, epidemiology and biostatistics. The core is comprised of the Behavioral Intervention and Evaluation Methodology, Einstein Social-Environmental Research Methodology, and Clinical Research Methodology sub-cores. It builds bridges from basic science and clinical research to epidemiology and translational research. The core emphasizes dissemination and sustainability through its community engagement, focusing on primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of diabetes and obesity in underserved minority populations. Reducing health disparities is a main theme of our efforts, and this has been facilitated through many collaborations with other academic institutions, community leaders and researchers across the United States.
