CITI Training Support What is CITI? The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program is a leading provider of research ethics, compliance, and professional development education. Many organizations and more than 1 million learners from around the world utilize CITI online courses annually. The Office of Human Research Affairs at Albert Einstein College of Medicine has subscribed to the CITI Program for its human subjects training requirements, as well as many other research training topics. Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Health Systems Required Courses All Einstein and Montefiore researchers and key personnel must complete the assigned CITI modules for certification in Human Subject Protection (HSP) Training. iRIS will not accept name of any researchers and key personnel who have not completed the required CITI training. Initial training requirements are satisfied by completing at least one of the following: A CITI Basic Course in human subjects research (estimated to take 4-6 hours) The CITI Basic course offers a broad base of educational material for all individuals who are involved in the conduct of human subject research. The Einstein IRB requirements for completion of this tutorial have been structured to offer each researcher a program that has been tailored to address issues associated with their area of study. (Required) CRTP Students: Both semesters of Dr. Macklin’s Research Ethics course In addition to one of the above options, completion of the Good Clinical Practice Course (GCP) is also required for new and ongoing clinical studies that involve the testing of drugs or devices, including all FDA-registered studies as well as investigator-initiated protocols. Please see the “Training and Education Requirements” section for more information. Note: All investigators must renew their CITI training certifications every 5 years in order to be certified in Human Subjects Protection (HSP) training. Accessing your CITI Account If you already have a CITI account with another institution, it is imperative that you add Albert Einstein College of Medicine as your affiliation and complete the required training for compliance with the Einstein IRB. For instructions on how to add a new affiliation are available here. How to log in to your Einstein CITI account Go to www.citiprogram.org and click the “LOG IN” button. Enter the email and password combination you used when you created your CITI account (if you created your account while at a different institution, your log in email may not be your Montefiore Einstein email address!) Once logged in, you will see a welcome screen and a list of your Institutions (if you are affiliated with more than one institution). Click on the “View Courses” button next to Albert Einstein College of Medicine to see the courses available for Einstein. How to create a new Einstein CITI account Go to www.citiprogram.org and click the “Register”; button located in the top right corner of the homepage. Step 1: Enter “Albert Einstein College of Medicine” in the Select Your Organization Affiliation field, click the “I AGREE to the…” box, then the “I affirm…” box. Step 2: Select Continue to Create Your CITI Program Username/Password The email address you associate with your account will be your contact address for announcements and assistance Enter your first and last name along with your email address. Please enter your name here as you would like it to appear on your completion report Secondary email address is not required; however it is encouraged. It will assist in the recovery of your account if you forget your username or password and no longer have access to your primary email address Step 3: Choose a username, password, and security question. Note: Passwords are case sensitive. Step 4: Enter your Country of Residence as requested Step 5: <Optional> If you wish to seek CEU credits, you will need to fill out the information on this screen; any cost associated is your responsibility. Step 6: These fields are Montefiore Einstein specific. Please fill out all required fields (noted with a red*). Please ensure your Institutional Email Addressis entered correctly as OHRA uses this to upload your CITI completion record and it must match our records. Step 7: Please indicate with which institution you are affiliated Now your new affiliation should show up when you log into CITI How to add the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Course to your CITI account When you log onto CITI, scroll down past the courses you have yet to complete or have already completed to the bottom of the page until you see the following: Click on “Add a Course” Select your affiliation, then click “Next” Select “Good Clinical Practice (GCP)”, then click “Next” Select the appropriate answer (If this is your first time taking the course, select the Basic option) You will now see the course appear under your list of courses to begin How to Print A Completion Report Go to www.citiprogram.org and click the “LOG IN” button. Click on the “View Courses” button next to Albert Einstein College of Medicine Scroll down through the list of your completed courses until you see the course, “Group 2. Biomedical Research with Drugs/Devices”, then click the “View – Print – Share Record” button Click on the “View/Print” button under “Completion Report” This will open up a .pdf document that can be saved to your device or printed out. Please note the following before you submit this document: It must be a Coursework Requirements Report (NOT a Coursework Transcript Report) The expiration date must be current Reported Score must be greater than the Minimum Passing score.
