<p>Mauricio Drummond Jr., MD, is an attending surgeon and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics and Orthopedic Surgery at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Drummond&rsquo;s clinical focus is in pediatric sports medicine with a special focus on knee pathology. His interests include pediatric orthopedic surgery, complex pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, ACL, PCL and multiligament knee injuries, discoid meniscus, meniscus transplantation, patellofemoral instability, trochlear dysplasia, cartilage preservation and pediatric trauma and limb deformities.</p><p>In 1996, Dr. Drummond earned his Doctor of Medicine from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He completed his residency training at the same institution, and practiced as a knee specialist for more than 13 years in Brazil. In 2018, he came to the United States, completing an orthopedic surgery research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2019 and an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2020. He continued his postdoctoral training, completing his pediatric orthopedics and limb deformity fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in 2021 and his pediatric orthopedics fellowship at Connecticut Children&rsquo;s Medical Center in 2022.</p><p>Dr. Drummond&rsquo;s research interests include discoid meniscus, trochlear dysplasia, patellofemoral instability and ACL tears. He has shared his work nationally and internationally through peer-reviewed journals and podium and poster presentations. He is also a reviewer for the <em>American Journal of Sports Medicine</em>.</p><p>Dr. Drummond is a member of several professional organizations including the International Society of Arthroscopy and Knee Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) and the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society (PRiSM).</p>

<p>Eloy Dario Tabeayo Alvarez, MD, is an attending physician in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. After earning his Bachelor degree from Instituto Rosal&iacute;a de Castro, Dr. Tabeayo Alvarez attended Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2011. He continued with medical training in Spain, completing a six-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid, in 2017. <p>Benjamin Berenfeld, MD, specializes in upper extremity surgery and is one of the few specialists in Westchester and the Bronx performing endoscopic carpal and cubital tunnel releases and wrist arthroscopy. His clinical practice also encompasses a wide variety of nonoperative treatments, including collagenase injections for Dupuytren?s disease and the use of ultrasound guidance for joint injections with particular expertise in minimally invasive management of various disorders of the hand, wrist and elbow. At our Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he serves as an Assistant Professor.</p><p>After obtaining his medical degree from our Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completing his residency in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore, Dr. Berenfeld pursued a hand and upper extremity fellowship at SUNY Upstate Medical University. His fellowship included training at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for congenital disorders of the hand and upper extremity.</p><p>His training included management of all upper extremity traumas in adults and children, as well as microvascular reconstruction of upper and lower extremity injuries. This included industrial trauma to the hand, replantation of severed digits, repair of nerves and tendons, and treatment of other complex soft tissue and bone disorders. Dr. Berenfeld also received significant training in shoulder and elbow replacement for arthritic and traumatic conditions of the upper limb joints.</p><p>Dr. Berenfeld is a recipient of numerous awards including Patients? Choice Award for 2010-2014 and Most Compassionate Physician Award for 2010-2014, based on the patients? reviews. He was also named Top 10 Hand Surgeon Specialists in New Jersey in 2014 and America?s Top Orthopedists in 2012. He is a native Russian speaker.</p>
