Goldwater Scholar and a SUNY Chancellor&rsquo;s Award winner. Dr. Fourman attended the University of Cambridge to earn a Masters of Philosophy in Sociology in 2009 prior to completing his Doctor of Medicine with Distinction in Research and the Humanities in 2014 at Stony Brook University. Dr. Fourman pursued his postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, completing an internship in general surgery in 2015 followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery in 2020. He then went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Harvard in 2021 followed by a clinical fellowship in Adult Spine and Scoliosis Surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in 2022 under Drs. Todd Albert, Han Jo Kim and Sheeraz Qureshi. </span></p>

He also studies multiple aspects of adult spinal deformity in collaboration with the International Spine Study Group (ISSG). He has won several awards for his research, including the Philip D. <p>Mauricio Drummond Jr., MD, is an attending surgeon and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics and Orthopedic Surgery at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Drummond&rsquo;s clinical focus is in pediatric sports medicine with a special focus on knee pathology. His interests include pediatric orthopedic surgery, complex pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, ACL, PCL and multiligament knee injuries, discoid meniscus, meniscus transplantation, patellofemoral instability, trochlear dysplasia, cartilage preservation and pediatric trauma and limb deformities.</p><p>In 1996, Dr. Drummond earned his Doctor of Medicine from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He completed his residency training at the same institution, and practiced as a knee specialist for more than 13 years in Brazil. In 2018, he came to the United States, completing an orthopedic surgery research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2019 and an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2020. He continued his postdoctoral training, completing his pediatric orthopedics and limb deformity fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in 2021 and his pediatric orthopedics fellowship at Connecticut Children&rsquo;s Medical Center in 2022.</p><p>Dr. Drummond&rsquo;s research interests include discoid meniscus, trochlear dysplasia, patellofemoral instability and ACL tears. He has shared his work nationally and internationally through peer-reviewed journals and podium and poster presentations. <p>Dr. Yang earned his medical degree at Beijing Medical University in China followed by an orthopaedic residency at Peking University People&rsquo;s Hospital in Beijing, China.&nbsp; Following his training in China, he came to the United States where he earned a Master&rsquo;s degree in Biological Sciences from Hunter College at the City University of New York. Dr. Yang completed a second orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Texas, in Houston and then he did a fellowship in Orthopaedic Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.</p>
<p>Dr. Yang specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant tumors in the musculoskeletal system. A multidisciplinary approach is emphasized in his practice. He performs surgery to remove the tumor fom the limb and pelvis, and rebuild them using techniques tailored for each individual patient. Dr. Yang is also interested in treating metastatic bony lesions originating from other parts of the body.</p>
<p>Dr. Yang has a strong interest in the research of musculoskeletal tumors. He has been studying the tumorigenesis of osteosarcoma and the genetic profile of the tumors as comparison to its normal counterpart tissues.&nbsp; He has also studied the mechanism of chemotherapy resistance in osteosarcoma and related signaling pathways, as well as novel strategies to overcome it in collaboration with the pediatric sarcoma teams.</p>

<p>Dr. Yang is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon recognized for his multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant tumors in the musculoskeletal system, including metastatic bony lesions as well as primary tumors. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Yang earned his medical degree at Beijing Medical University in China followed by an orthopedic residency at Peking University People?s Hospital in Beijing, China. Following his training in China, he came to the United States where he earned a master?s degree in biological sciences from Hunter College at the City University of New York. Dr. Yang completed a second orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas, in Houston, followed by a fellowship in orthopedic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.</p><p>Dr. Yang has a strong interest in the research of musculoskeletal tumors. He has been studying the tumor genesis of osteosarcoma and the genetic profile of the tumors as compared to normal counterpart tissues. He has also studied the mechanism of chemotherapy resistance in osteosarcoma and related signaling pathways, in addition to novel strategies to overcome it in collaboration with pediatric sarcoma teams.</p>

<p>Jamie Twaite, PhD, is a Neuropsychologist, Co-Director, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital&rsquo;s Concussion Management Program, Director, Neuropsychology Externship and Assistant Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus is on the neuropsychological evaluation and rehabilitation of individuals with cognitive and emotional concerns related to neurologic, medical and psychiatric illnesses. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of dementia and acquired brain injury (ABI), as well as in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injury (both with and without concurrent ABI).</p><p>After completing her Master of Psychology at Columbia University in 2008, Dr. Twaite pursued her Doctor of Philosophy in psychology at City University of New York (CUNY), earning the degree in 2016. That same year, she completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship in clinical psychology-adult neuropsychology track with the Henry Ford Health System. She then went on to complete her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology with the Institute of Living, Hartford Hospital, with focused training in the assessment of memory disorders/dementias, acquired brain injuries, and severe and persistent mental illness.</p><p>Dr. Twaite&rsquo;s research interests include cognitive and emotional functioning following stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other acquired brain injury in individuals with Parkinson&rsquo;s disease as well as in healthy populations, such as in musicians. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and she has given paper and poster presentations at scientific meetings nationally and internationally. Dr. Twaite is a reviewer for the <em>Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology</em> and the <em>Journal of Psycholinguistic Research</em>.</p><p>Dr. Twaite is a member of several professional associations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology and the International Neuropsychological Society. <p>Melinda S. Sharkey, MD, is an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at Montefiore. <p>Dr. Matthew Shaines completed a medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center - Brooklyn and an internal medicine residency at Montefiore/Einstein. He was then recruited to the Einstein faculty at Montefiore and became one of the initial group of hospitalists who founded the Teaching Hospitalist Program at Montefiore in 2004.</p>

<p>Jacob F. Schulz, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who provides comprehensive pediatric orthopedic care with an emphasis on spinal deformity, neuromuscular disease and trauma. He has a particular interest in the growing spine, with experience using the vertical expandable titanium rib (VEPTR) device and vertebral tethering through a thoracoscopic approach. At our Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.</p><p>He served both his internship and residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he was honored with the Frank Hammond Sivitz and Chief Resident Teaching Awards in 2011. During his residency, he traveled to Neustadt, Germany to study spine deformity at the Schoen Clinic, and to San Pedro Sula in Honduras to help CURE International provide world class orthopedic care to children. Levin, MD, joined Montefiore and our Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2004 and is the Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopedics as well as the Director of the Department of Orthopedics, Moses Campus. At Einstein, he serves as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a board-certified orthopedic specialist with expertise in general orthopedics, the nonoperative management of musculoskeletal conditions, fracture surgery and complications of fractures.<br /><br />He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1980 and completed his orthopedic residency at Montefiore in 1985. He subsequently completed a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the University of Texas and a second fellowship in fracture care at the Kantosspital in Basel, Switzerland.<br /><br />Dr. Levin teaches classes in bioethics and a course in Patients, Doctors and Communities, both of which focus on collaboration among patients and professionals regarding healthcare delivery.
