<p>Jooyoung Julia Shin, MD, is Fellowship Director, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship Program and Associate Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Shin&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on heart failure, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in 1994, Dr. Shin earned her Doctor of Medicine at George Washington University in 1999. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland in 2002 before completing a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Emory University in 2005. Following this, Dr. Shin remained at Emory to complete an additional fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology in 2006.</p><p>Dr. Shin&rsquo;s research focuses on fellow education. She has been principal investigator and co-principal investigator on several funded research projects, and she has presented at invited lectures nationwide. Her work has also been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and she has been a reviewer for scientific publications, including the <em>Mayo Clinic Proceedings</em>, the <em>American Journal of Cardiology</em> and <em>Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology</em>, among others.</p><p>Dr. Shin is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.</p>

<p>Judah Nathaniel Rauch, MD, is an Interventional Cardiologist at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. He has a particular interest in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, cardiogenic shock and complex coronary disease.</p><p>Dr. Rauch earned his Bachelor of Arts at Yeshiva University in 2006, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine in 2010. He began his postdoctoral training at New York&rsquo;s Mount Sinai Hospital, completing a residency in internal medicine in 2013, serving as chief resident in 2014 and completing a fellowship in cardiovascular disease in 2017. His pivotal work in robotics led to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of this advanced technology for <a title="View Montefiore's mitral valve repair" href="https://montefioreeinstein.org/heart/conditions/heart-valve-diseases/mi…; target="_blank">mitral valve repair</a> and coronary artery bypass surgery.</p>
<p>He is an NIH-funded investigator, serving as Principal Investigator for the NIH/NHLBI-sponsored Cardiothoracic Surgical Clinical Trials Network. He has participated in over 50 clinical trials including the use of myoblasts and stem cells for heart failure.</p>
<p>In 2017, Dr. Michler received the Vladimir Borakovsky Prize from the Russian Ministry of Health in Moscow for &ldquo;his personal contributions to the development of cardiovascular surgery&rdquo;.</p>
<p>Dr. Michler lectures extensively, both nationally and abroad, and is a regular Expert Opinion author on heart related topics including stem cell therapies, ischemic mitral regurgitation and ischemic heart failure. <p>Robert E. Michler, MD, has served as the Surgeon-in-Chief of the Montefiore Medical Center since 2008. He is Chairman of the Department of Surgery (2007) and Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (2005) at the Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Michler holds the Samuel I. Belkin Chair and is Professor with Tenure at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Michler is an internationally renowned <a href="https://www.montefiore.org/heart-surgical-services">cardiothoracic surgeon</a> and researcher. He is a highly sought after surgeon and known leader in several surgical specialties, including complex multi-procedural cardiac surgery, mitral and aortic <a href="https://www.montefiore.org/heart-valve-repair-and-valve-sparing-surgery… repair surgery</a>, surgery for congestive heart failure, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and <a href="https://www.montefiore.org/heart-transplant">heart transplantation</a>. Of particular note, Dr. Michler was one of the first to perform <a href="https://www.montefiore.org/minimally-invasive-and-robotic-cardiothoraci… invasive and robotic surgery</a> in heart patients. His pivotal work in robotics led to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of this advanced technology for <a href="https://www.montefiore.org/mitral-valve-repair-and-replacement">mitral valve repair</a> and coronary artery bypass surgery.</p><p>He is an NIH-funded investigator, serving as Principal Investigator for the NIH/NHLBI-sponsored Cardiothoracic Surgical Clinical Trials Network. He has participated in over 50 clinical trials including the use of myoblasts and stem cells for heart failure.</p><p>In 2017, Dr. Michler received the Vladimir Borakovsky Prize from the Russian Ministry of Health in Moscow for &ldquo;his personal contributions to the development of cardiovascular surgery&rdquo;.</p><p>Dr. Michler lectures extensively, both nationally and abroad, and is a regular Expert Opinion author on heart related topics including stem cell therapies, ischemic mitral regurgitation and ischemic heart failure. Over the years, Dr. Michler has provided regular commentary to NBC Nightly News, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.</p><p>In his unique role as Chairman of both the Department of Surgery and the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, Dr. Michler applies his dynamic leadership to expand Montefiore Einstein's role at the forefront of surgical innovation. In 2017, he was responsible for establishing the Lung and Heart-Lung transplantation and end stage pulmonary failure program at Montefiore Einstein.</p><p>Formerly, Dr. Michler held the John G. and Jeanne Bonnet McCoy Endowed Chair, tenured Professor of Surgery, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Heart & Lung Transplantation at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He also served as the Associate Director of the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute. Dr. Michler was integral to the planning, design, and philanthropic development for the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. Dr. Michler served as the first Executive Director of the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital.</p><p>Before joining The Ohio State University faculty, Dr. Michler was a tenured Associate Professor of Surgery at Columbia University and Director of the Heart Transplant Program at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Michler received his undergraduate education Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University. <p>Mark A. Menegus, MD, FACC, FSCAI, is Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Montefiore&rsquo;s Einstein campus and Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since joining Montefiore, his focus has been interventional and clinical cardiology, interventional management of acute myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndromes, outpatient consultative cardiology and training general and interventional cardiology fellows.</p><p>In 1977, Dr. Menegus received his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Science/Physiology from Rutgers University. He then attended Rutgers Medical School, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1981. From 1981 to 1987, Dr. Menegus completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Montefiore, also serving as an Assistant Firm Leader in the Deparment of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Menegus has been the Principal Investigator for many research projects, including the NIH-sponsored Myocardial Infarction and Transfusion trial, the SHOCK trial, and the PHRI-sponsored COMPLETE trial. <p>Dr. Keltz received his BS with honors in Biology, magna cum laude, and his MD in the accelerated 6 year Biomedical Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College of Union University. He was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical school honor society, in the autumn of his junior year in medical school.</p><p>Dr. Keltz did an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mt Sinai Hospital and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Montefiore Medical Center. In addition to authoring dozens of peer-reviewed cardiologic studies (link: p. 41), Dr. Hsu reviews pediatric cardiologic-related grants for the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health and is a member of the Sub Board of Pediatric Cardiology of the American Board of Pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. Hsu was drawn to pediatric cardiology early in her career. "I like being able to care for the sickest children," she explains. Children with heart failure "have a terrible disease," says Dr. Hsu. "You have to figure out what it is. You have to treat it quickly. And you have to do it well-and then you can follow them for the rest of their lives." Lasting relationships with her patients-and their families-are for Dr. Hsu among the most rewarding aspects her work. "You can share with the family the joy of this child who is doing so beautifully because you know where they've come from."</p>
