<p>Dr. Tow is a transplant hepatologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She serves as the Clinical Site Director of Hepatology at the Weiler Division of MMC, Associate Program Director of the Gastroenterology &amp; Liver Diseases Fellowship Program, and the Co-Director of the AECOM Gastroenterology &amp; Hepatology Systems Course.</p>
<p>Dr. Tow holds a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude for her work in developmental research. While attending Weill Cornell Medical College, she developed her passion for transplant medicine and was awarded Alpha Omega Alpha and Honors in Research for her characterization of mitochondrial injury during ischemia-reperfusion injury. Dr. Tow completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she served as an education resident, and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases at Montefiore Medical Center. Subsequently she pursued her advanced fellowship training in Transplant Hepatology at New York Presbyterian Hospital &ndash; Columbia University Medical Center.</p>

<p>Dr. Tokayer received his B.A. in from Yeshiva College and his M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. &nbsp;He completed an internship and residency at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and GI and Hepatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He received an MHS degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Dr. Tokayer then joined the Montefiore GI Faculty in 1992. He has been involved in the spectrum of clinical patient care, endoscopic interventions and teaching in the GI fellowship program. His areas of interest include clinical practice, patient care and education, endoscopic procedures and interventions, functional GI and motility disorders. He is Director of the GI Motility Lab where studies such as Esophageal Manometry,&nbsp; Esophageal Acid Monitoring and Impedance Testing, Ano-rectal Manometry and Defecatory Testing, Hydrogen Breath Testing for Bacterial overgrowth and Carbohydrate Maldigestion , and studies of gastric and intestinal transit. <p>Tihomir Stefanec, MD, is Attending Physician, Critical Care Medicine, Assistant Professor, Medicine and Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus is multidisciplinary critical care medicine including medical, surgical, neurologic and cardiothoracic critical care.</p><p>After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Zagreb Medical School in Zagreb, Croatia in 1992, Dr. Stefanec completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital in 1997. He then completed a critical care medicine fellowship at Saint Vincent&rsquo;s Hospital and Medical Center in 1999. Following this, Dr. Stefanec completed a pulmonary medicine fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2001.</p><p>Dr. Stefanec&rsquo;s past research focuses on the role of the endothelium and its progenitors in the pathogenesis of disease. His work has been published in peer-reviewed original publications, reviews, editorials and abstracts, and he has presented nationally.</p><p>Dr. Stefanec is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as in Neurocritical Care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. <p>Mark Shlomovich, MD, is Director, Extracorporeal Liver Support and Director, Pediatric Critical Care Transport at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Shlomovich&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the care of critically ill children with abdominal organ failure, transplantation and post-surgical care. He also focuses on the safe transportation of critically ill children.</p><p>In 2006, Dr. Shlomovich earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Towson University. He then attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2010. His postgraduate training began at SUNY Downstate Medical Center with a four-year pediatric residency, where he was Chief Pediatric Resident in his final year. He then came to Children's Hospital at Montefiore for a pediatric critical care fellowship, which he completed in 2017.</p><p>Dr. Shlomovich&rsquo;s research interests are in the use of artificial liver support technology, as well as the care of children in liver failure before and after transplantation. In addition, he investigates the safety and efficiency of the transportation of critically ill children. Biography

<p>Ariel L Shiloh, MD, is Director, Critical Care Consult Services, Professor, Medicine and Associate Professor, Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Shiloh&rsquo;s clinical interests include the early detection and treatment of critical illness, point-of-care ultrasonography for the evaluation of critical illness and advanced airway management.</p><p>After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University, Dr. Shiloh attended the Medical School for International Health at Ben Gurion University, Be&rsquo;er Sheva, Israel, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2005. He came to Montefiore for his postdoctoral training, completing his internship and residency in internal medicine in 2008, followed by his fellowship in critical care medicine in 2010.</p><p>Dr. Shiloh's research includes the clinical use of point-of-care ultrasonography in critical illness, improvement of airway management, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, invited presentations, books, abstracts and poster presentations at national conferences. He has also been a reviewer for several journals including <em>Chest</em>, the <em>American Journal of Critical Care</em> and the <em>European Journal of Anesthesiology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Shiloh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care and Hospice &amp; Palliative Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Shiloh has been recognized by the American College of Chest Physicians as a Distinguished CHEST Educator, among the top 5% of CHEST&rsquo;s international faculty recognized for long-term contributions to the design and delivery of CHEST education</p>

<p>Jonathan M. Schwartz is a board Certified Transplant Hepatologist. &nbsp;He is a graduate of Tel Aviv University, Sackler School of Medicine. He was an Internal Medicine Resident at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Fellow in Gastroenterology/Transplant Hepatology at the University of Washington in Seattle. &nbsp;He returned to New York in 2011 from Portland, Oregon where he served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health and Sciences University.</p>
<p>Dr. &nbsp;Schwartz has an interest in treating patients with acute and chronic liver diseases including those patients with advanced liver diseases who require liver transplantation.</p>

Biography

<p>John F. Reinus, MD, is Emeritus Medical Director, Liver Transplantation and Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. His work centers on liver transplantation, end-stage liver disease and viral hepatitis.</p><p>Dr. Reinus studied Pre-Medical Sciences at Columbia University before earning his Doctor of Medicine at Cornell Medical College in 1981. He then began an internal medicine internship at Bellevue Hospital Center, completing it in 1982. Following this, Dr. Reinus completed a residency in internal medicine at the same institution in 1984 before completing a hepatology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 1985. He went on to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology at the same institution, finishing it in 1987. Dr. Reinus then completed a Transplant Hepatology Preceptorship at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation in 2006.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Reinus&rsquo; research is focused on liver diseases and related topics. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, reviews and abstracts, and he has presented at numerous conferences and meetings.</p><p>Dr. Reinus is board certified by the American Board of Medical Examiners in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Transplantation.</p>
