<p>Kari M. Plewniak, MD, is Attending Physician at Montefiore and Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Plewniak&rsquo;s clinical focus is the gynecologic care of women. She primarily treats women with abnormal bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain. Her clinical interests include laparoscopy, robotics, hysteroscopy in the office and surgical teaching.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Rochester in 2008, Dr. Plewniak attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. For her postdoctoral training, she completed a four-year residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2017, followed by a two-year fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in 2019.</p><p>Dr. Plewniak&rsquo;s research has been focused on the patient experience leading up to and after surgery as well as approaches to optimizing patient outcomes and satisfaction. She has produced several book chapters, and her research findings have been published in reviewed publications.</p><p>Dr. Plewniak received the Louis Burke Award for Excellence in Colposcopy in 2017. In 2018 and 2019, she received the Leo Davidoff Society Award for excellence in medical student education. She is board certified and a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.</p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">Dr. Leung graduated from SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 2005 and completed her internal medicine residency and critical-care medicine fellowship training at Monfefiore Medical Center. In 2009, house staff selected her as Fellow of the Year. In 2010, she was recruited to join the faculty and was supported by her division for the AECOM master&rsquo;s program in clinical research methods because of her interest in comparative effectiveness, cost, and outcome research. She further pursued her Executive MHA at Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, graduated in 2014.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">Dr. Leung became the associate director of critical care medicine for clinical operations and the medical director of the critical care physician assistant program in 2016. Her focus was to employ Lean Six Sigma methodology for process improvement, to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment strategies, to study health-care utilization and costs, and to evaluate physician compensation and productivity.</span></p>

Seeing the bigger picture in health care and within the health system, she realized that relentless focus on value creation and delivery is the prerequisite of achieving the quadruple aim of health care. </span></p>

<p>Sara Isani, MD, is Attending Physician at Montefiore and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology &amp; Women&rsquo;s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on pre-cancers and cancers of the reproductive tract. She performs specialized cancer surgery as well as chemotherapy management of these conditions, and also cares for women with hereditary syndromes that increase risk of gynecologic malignancy.</p><p>In 2001, Dr. Isani received her Bachelor of Arts in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University. In 2002, she attended New York University School of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine degree in 2006. She started her postgraduate training with an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital from 2006 to 2010. She then pursued a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completing the two-year fellowship in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Isani&rsquo;s clinical research includes trials to improve cancer survival and quality of life for cancer patients, as well as issues related to access of care. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Isani is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology. She is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.</p>
