<p>Rhea Basu, MD, is an attending neonatologist at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Clinical Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Basu provides care for critically ill newborns, addressing a variety of acute and chronic medical needs. Her clinical focus includes neonatal hemodynamics and optimizing the growth and nutrition of preterm infants.</p><p>In 2014, Dr. Basu received her Bachelor of Science in biology and medical science from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. She then attended University of London, St. George&rsquo;s Hospital in London, United Kingdom, earning her medical degree in 2018. For her postgraduate training, she came to the United States, completing a pediatrics residency at Einstein in 2021. She then pursued a neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital / Nemours Children&rsquo;s Hospital / Christiana Care Health Services, completing it in 2024, taking the role of Chief Education Fellow in her final year.</p><p>Dr. Basu&rsquo;s research focus includes evaluating changes and clinical applications of the preterm infant&rsquo;s gut microbiome, preterm growth and nutrition, as well as neonatal hemodynamics and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) outcomes. <p>Shantanu Rastogi, MD, is Unified Division Director, Neonatology at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Rastogi&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on neonatal pulmonary morbidities, non-invasive ventilation, acute kidney injury and neonatal outcomes associated with maternal medical conditions. </p><p>After earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at King George&rsquo;s Medical College in India in 1988, Dr. Rastogi completed his pediatric residency and earned his Doctor of Medicine in pediatrics in 1992. He then moved to the United States to continue his medical training, completing his residency in pediatrics at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University at Brooklyn in 1995, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital of New York, College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University in 1999. Following this, Dr. Rastogi earned his Master of Medical Management at Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. </p><p>Dr. Rastogi&rsquo;s research focuses on pulmonary diseases and non-invasive ventilation for preterm neonates, as well as short and long-term neonatal morbidities related to maternal medical conditions. He has been principal site investigator on several research projects and his work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed original papers, reviews and book chapters. Dr. Rastogi has given national and international presentations and is Associate Editor for <em>Frontiers in Pharmacology</em>. He is also a reviewer for scientific journals, including the <em>New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA Pediatrics, Pediatrics and the Journal of Perinatology</em>. </p><p>Dr. Rastogi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics with a subspecialty certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. <p>Sheri L. Nemerofsky, MD, FAAP, is Director, Newborn Services and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Nemerofsky&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on newborn care and respiratory and nutritional needs.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Muhlenberg College in 1994, Dr. Nemerofsky earned her Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten in 1999. She was a pediatric dermatology research associate at the University of Miami until 2000, before completing her pediatrics internship at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001. Dr. Nemerofsky remained at this institution to complete her pediatrics residency in 2003. Following this, she completed a neonatal-perinatal fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 2006.</p><p>Dr. Nemerofsky&rsquo;s research focuses on quality improvement, safety and healthcare disparities. She has shared her work through numerous national and international presentations and peer- reviewed publications. Dr. Nemerofsky is also a reviewer for the <em>American Journal of Perinatology</em>, the <em>American Journal of Preventive Medicine</em>, the <em>Journal of Perinatology and Pediatrics</em>.</p><p>Dr. Nemerofsky is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academic Pediatric Association, the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee of Coding and Nomenclature. <p>Tamara Kalhan, MD, FAAP, is Medical Director, Low Birthweight Evaluation and Assessment Program (LEAP) Clinic and Director, Neonatal Education, Wakefield Division at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Course Director, Medicine Electives in Neonatology and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on neonatal outcomes for premature infants, low birth weight infants and infants requiring extended Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) hospitalizations.</p><p>Dr. Kalhan earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2009 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency in 2012 at St. Louis Children&rsquo;s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University, where she was Chief Fellow in her final year of training in 2015.</p><p>Dr. Kalhan&rsquo;s research interests and expertise include improving follow-up care and neonatal outcomes in high-risk infant populations, with an emphasis on early detection of cerebral palsy.
