<p>Gitit Tomer, MD, is Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Tomer has been a member of the Montefiore team since 2009, with a clinical focus on inflammatory bowel disease, performance improvement and capsule endoscopy.</p><p>Dr. Tomer received her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University, in 1995. She completed her Pediatric internship and residency at New York University School of Medicine in 1998, and went on to complete her Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2001.</p><p>Dr. Tomer&rsquo;s focus on IBD, performance improvement and endoscopy extend to her research interests. She is the CHAM physician leader of ImproveCareNow, a national collaborative that champions improved care for children and youth with Crohn&rsquo;s disease and ulcerative colitis. Her research in pediatric IBD examines many facets, extending from the racial differences in initial presentation, early treatment and 1-year outcomes in pediatric Crohn&rsquo;s disease, to differences in satisfaction with work-life balance among pediatric gastroenterologists. Dr. Tomer&rsquo;s work has been published in a number of reviewed journals, books, review articles, and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Tomer is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Dr. Thompson specializes in short bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, feeding disorder, and chronic abdominal pain. </p><p>Dr. Thompson graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. and M.S. in Chemistry. He was awarded his Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1977. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at Wyler's Children's Hospital, University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics in 1980, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Babies Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Thompson was Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for 15 years before he was recruited to CHAM in 2009.</p><p>Under Dr. Thompson's leadership, the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at CHAM has shown remarkable growth and is now one of the premier programs in the country with expertise in inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology and liver transplantation, therapeutic endoscopy, intestinal failure, celiac disease, aerodigestive and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. </p><p>Dr. Thompson is the director of the Intestinal Rehabilitation Program at CHAM. His research focuses on ways to improve the lives and outcomes of children who have intestinal failure and short bowel syndrome, with multiple active Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved studies. <p>Mark Shlomovich, MD, is Director, Extracorporeal Liver Support and Director, Pediatric Critical Care Transport at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Shlomovich&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the care of critically ill children with abdominal organ failure, transplantation and post-surgical care. He also focuses on the safe transportation of critically ill children.</p><p>In 2006, Dr. Shlomovich earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Towson University. He then attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2010. His postgraduate training began at SUNY Downstate Medical Center with a four-year pediatric residency, where he was Chief Pediatric Resident in his final year. <p>Jenny Shliozberg, MD, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is in food allergy, hereditary angioedema (HAE), asthma, rhinitis, oral allergy syndrome and chronic urticaria. She frequently conducts food and drug challenges and has cared for HIV-positive and immunodeficient patients for the last 35 years.
</p><p>After earning her Doctor of Medicine at First Pavlov Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dr. Shliozberg continued with her postgraduate training at the same institution, completing her internship in obstetrics and gynecology followed by an ambulatory obstetrics and gynecology clinic. She later came to the United States, continuing her postgraduate training in 1984, completing a pediatric residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in 1987 and an allergy and immunology fellowship at Montefiore and Einstein in 1989.
</p><p>Dr. Shliozberg&rsquo;s research focus includes food allergy, HAE, chronic sporadic urticaria, study in pediatric asthma, HIV and severe combined immunodeficiency and eosinophilic esophagitis. She is principal investigator on the use of Dupixent for pediatric patients, and has a study on AIR Supra use in children. Dr. Shilozberg has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, posters and case reports and she has presented internationally and nationally. She has trained more than 70 fellows, many residents and medical students throughout her career.
</p><p>Dr. Shliozberg is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Shliozberg is a member of the American Association of Certified Allergists, the New York Allergy Society, and the Clinical Immunology Society.

From 1991 to 2000, she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University for 2 years and then continued gastrointestinal research at Columbia University.
