<p>Soo G. Kim, MD, is an Associate Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine at Montefiore and Professor of Medicine at our <a href="http://www.einstein.yu.edu/faculty/5094/soo-kim/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Albert Einstein College of Medicine</a>. His clinical focus is on the management of cardiac rhythm disorders, including complex ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, and the implantation of cardiac rhythm management devices. Dr. Kim has been a part of the Montefiore team since 1979.</p><p>Dr. Kim attended the College of Liberal Arts and Science, Pusan National Universityin Korea, completingthe premedical course. He also received his Doctor of Medicine from the College of Medicine, Pusan National University. Dr. Kim completed an internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1974, then went on tocompletehisMedical residency and Cardiology fellowship at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. In 1979, Dr. Kim completed a third-year Cardiology fellowship at Montefiore.</p><p>Dr. Kim’s research focuses on the role of implantable defibrillators for the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest, as well as the ablation of ventricular tachycardia in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiac disorders. His work has been published in a vast number of materials, including reviewed journals, abstracts, and books. He has also played key roles in manyinternational lectures, seminars, and presentations.</p><p>Dr. Kim is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American College of Physicians and the American Heart Association.</p>
Theodore N. Keltz
Dr. Keltz is interested in the full breadth of clinical cardiology in adolescents and adults, from risk factor assessment and treatment, to the care of symptoms and diseases. He brings a special expertise in the integration of bedside care with noninvasive imaging.
<p>Dr. Keltz received his BS with honors in Biology, magna cum laude, and his MD in the accelerated 6 year Biomedical Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College of Union University. He was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical school honor society, in the autumn of his junior year in medical school.</p><p>Dr. Keltz did an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mt Sinai Hospital and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Montefiore Medical Center. He then joined the late Drs. Julian Frieden, Jerome Cooper, and. Bernard Gitler in cardiology practice in New Rochelle. The practice became Westchester Heart Specialists and included Dr. Michael Johnson and Dr. Donald Miller. He cared for patients at New Rochelle Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center, and Columbia University Medical Center. In 2012 Westchester Heart Specialists became a part of Montefiore Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Keltz was awarded the the Elmer Schacht Award for Microbiology in medical school and the Montefiore Medical Center House Staff Award for Excellence in Teaching and Patient Care in 1987.</p><p>Dr. Keltz is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, and Adult Echocardiography.</p><p>Dr. Keltz served on the Board of Directors, American Heart Association, Westchester-Putnam Region from 1995-2007 and as president from 2000-2006.</p><p>Dr. Keltz is currently the President of the Medical Board of Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.</p>

<p>Dr. Hsu’s main research efforts focus on improving outcomes in children and young adults with congenital heart disease and acquired heart diseases of childhood. She has published extensively in the fields of pediatric cardiomyopathy and pediatric heart transplantation. She has conducted outcomes research in drug therapies in the treatmen of pediatric heart failure. She also has a strong interest in the emerging field of adult congenital heart disease. She has served in leadership positions in the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Pediatric Society.</p>
<p>Dr. Hsu is one of the nation's leading experts in children's heart failure and heart transplant. Dr. Hsu brings specialized medical skills, decades of experience-and extraordinary commitment-to the care of children with complex heart disease. She conducts ongoing clinical research and has participated in many US multi-center studies on children's cardiomyopathies, medical and catheter-based therapy for heart disease in children and heart transplant. She is a nationally recongized pediatric cardiologic thought-leader.</p>

Before, during and after surgery, she manages the full-spectrum, customized medical therapy-and hands-on specialized care-your child needs for successful heart transplant.</p><p>In addition to managing her busy practice, Dr. Hsu conducts ongoing clinical research and is a nationally recognized pediatric cardiologic thought-leader.</p><p>Since beginning her career in 1987, Dr. Hsu has participated in many important US multi-center studies on children's cardiomyopathies, medical and catheter-based therapy for heart disease in children and heart transplant. Dr. Hsu served on the end-point and steering committee of the only multi-centered, placebo-controlled trial studying the effect of Carvedilol in pediatric heart failure patients.</p><p>Past president and board member of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study Group, Dr. Hsu also sits on the boards of the Pediatric Cardiomyopathy Registry and the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Committee for the American Heart Association. In addition to authoring dozens of peer-reviewed cardiologic studies (link: p. 41), Dr. Hsu reviews pediatric cardiologic-related grants for the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health and is a member of the Sub Board of Pediatric Cardiology of the American Board of Pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. Hsu was drawn to pediatric cardiology early in her career. "I like being able to care for the sickest children," she explains. Children with heart failure "have a terrible disease," says Dr. Hsu. "You have to figure out what it is. You have to treat it quickly. And you have to do it well-and then you can follow them for the rest of their lives." Lasting relationships with her patients-and their families-are for Dr. Hsu among the most rewarding aspects her work. "You can share with the family the joy of this child who is doing so beautifully because you know where they've come from."</p>
Edwin C.W. Ho
Dr. Hos' clinical focus is on valvular heart disease, especially novel transcatheter valve repair and replacement technologies.
Following his clinical interests, Dr. Ho’s research focuses on valvular heart disease and advanced cardiac imaging. His research has been published in reviewed journals, and he has been invited to present and participate as faculty at several international cardiology and valve meetings.
<p>Edwin Ho, MD, is Co-Director of the Heart Valve/Structural Heart Center at Montefiore. His clinical focus is on valvular heart disease, especially novel transcatheter valve repair and replacement technologies.</p><p>In 2010, Dr. Ho received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario. He continued at the institution for his postdoctoral training with a three-year residency in general internal medicine from 2010 to 2013, followed by a three-year residency in adult cardiology, which he completed in 2016. He then pursued a clinical fellowship in echocardiography, interventional echocardiography and valvular heart disease at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. After completing this in 2017, he continued his postdoctoral training at the University Hospital of Zurich in Switzerland, completing a clinical fellowship in interventional echocardiography and valvular heart disease in 2017 to 2019.</p><p>Following his clinical interests, Dr. Ho’s research focuses on valvular heart disease and advanced cardiac imaging. His research has been published in reviewed journals, and he has been invited to present and participate as faculty at several international cardiology and valve meetings. He has been an invited manuscript reviewer for <em>Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging</em> and <em>Cardiovascular Medicine</em>.</p>
Nils A. Guttenplan
<p>Dr. Guttenplan is committed to improving the patient's quality of life and prognosis across the spectrum of heart rhythm disorders. All contemporary approaches including pacemakers, defibrillators, catheter ablations, and left atrial appendage occlusion devices are drawn upon to achieve this aim.</p>
<p>Dr. Guttenplan is the principle investigator at Montefiore in an outcomes study of a left ventricular quadrapolar pacing lead. During the study he as adapted the use of an interventional snare technique. This approach has allowed for successful left ventricular lead placement, that would not have been possible with the conventional approach. Dr. Guttenplan is also a co-investigator in the division's ablation studies.</p>
