DegreeWorks FAQs What is DegreeWorks? DegreeWorks is a web-based degree audit tool to enable students to track their degree, and concentration requirements. DegreeWorks organizes coursework in an easy-to-read degree audit summarizing completed requirements for a degree, as well as those that are still missing. It also shows how each requirement has been satisfied and what courses can be taken to complete remaining requirements. The degree audit does not replace academic advising, nor is it a transcript. Who can use DegreeWorks? DegreeWorks is available to PhD and MD-PhD students who matriculated in 2019 or after. How do I access DegreeWorks? log in with your Monte AD credentials How do I read my degree audit? The audit is designed in a logical hierarchy. The first section displays basic information such as your name, degree objective, major, etc. The following sections list the overall requirements to earn your degree, major, and concentration. Additional Courses Taken, and In-Progress courses are listed toward the bottom of the audit. Each of these sections is called a “block”. How current is the information in DegreeWorks? The student data within DegreeWorks is refreshed nightly. Any changes made today (e.g., grade changes or classes added/dropped) will be seen in your DegreeWorks audit tomorrow. Can a degree audit be printed Yes. There is a printer icon located near the top of the audit. What are some helpful hints for reviewing my degree audit? The Legend at the bottom of the degree audit explains the symbols used in the audit. The Student View Header contains current student information, including name, student ID, program, degree, major, concentration, admit term, expected graduation date. The Degree Progress Circles under the Student View Header block shows progress towards degree based on an estimate of the total average of courses and credits required for a degree. The Degree in PhD in Biomedical Sciences block is a summary and list of requirements needed to complete the degree. Green circles with a checkmark indicate a requirement is satisfied. Blue half - filled circles indicate a requirement is in the process of being satisfied. Red circles indicate a requirement is still needed. Non required courses, insufficient, and in-progress courses are listed in designated blocks at the bottom of the audit. What does it mean if classes are listed under the Non Required, Insufficient or In-progress Blocks? In-progress or successfully completed courses that do not apply directly to a student’s program of study are listed under the Non Required Courses block. Courses that do not meet a grade requirement or are excluded from the program requirements (ex. Incomplete, Audited courses) are listed under the Insufficient block. Current course enrollments and future course registrations are included in the In-progress block. Can I view a list of all my complete classes in DegreeWorks? Yes. At the top right corner of the degree audit, click on the 3 dots for More Options, then click on the Class History link for a list of courses taken at Einstein, as well as transfer courses. Please note, this is not an official transcript. What does my audit look like if I’m pursuing two degrees (MD and PhD)? There is a drop-down arrow next to the degree information at the top of the audit. Use this to select your second degree. The degree audit with the additional major will display. Is it okay for DegreeWorks to place a course in two different places? In most cases, yes. DegreeWorks is programmed to recognize that some courses can fulfill more than one requirement. If you have questions, you should contact your registrar or program manager. Can I register for classes in DegreeWorks? No. Can I change my concentration in DegreeWorks? No. You must submit the appropriate Change of Lab form to the Graduate Office to change labs or concentration. How do I explore the requirements of another concentration? You can use the What If Analysis to see how your courses would apply to a different concentration, or to see what courses you would need to complete for another concentration. Once you select your program (i.e. PhD Biomedical Sciences, or MD/PhD program), and your major (Biomedical Sciences), you can then select a Concentration, then click the Process button to see an adjusted audit. What if my concentration is missing from my degree audit? If you have not officially declared a concentration, it will not appear on your degree audit. You should contact the Grad Office for information on how to declare a concentration. If you have officially declared your concentration and it is still not appearing, contact your registrar. Are there requirements for graduation that DegreeWorks does not check? While DegreeWorks has been designed to check almost everything that you must complete to qualify for graduation, there may be additional requirements for a major that must be completed as well. You should use DegreeWorks in conjunction with the academic catalog and contact your registrar to confirm that you remain on track for graduation.
