<p>Malav P. Shah, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus centers on inpatient general rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, amputee (limb loss) rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation and neuromuscular rehabilitation.</p><p>After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in biology from The College of New Jersey in 2014, Dr. Shah earned his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2018. He completed his internal medicine preliminary year at the same institution in 2019. Following this, Dr. Shah completed his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital/Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in 2022.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Shah&rsquo;s research focuses on improving the quality of outcomes in acute inpatient rehabilitation care. <p>Puja Patel, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Patel's clinical focus is pediatric epilepsy, although she also sees patients with general pediatric neurological issues, including headaches, movement disorders, sleep concerns and developmental delay.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Barnard College in 2005, Dr. Patel earned her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2009. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2011. Following this, Dr. Patel came to Montefiore Einstein to continue her medical training, completing her pediatric neurology residency in 2014, a clinical neurophysiology fellowship in 2015 and a behavioral neurosciences fellowship in 2016.</p><p>Dr. Patel&rsquo;s research focuses on clinical seizure prediction in the pediatric population. She has been co-investigator in several clinical drug trials investigating new anti-seizure medications. Her work has been shared through invited presentations and peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, review articles and abstracts. She is a reviewer for scientific journals, including <em>Epilepsy Research, the Journal of Neurological Sciences and Pediatric Neurology</em>, among others.</p><p>Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with special competence in Child Neurology. She is a member of the Child Neurology Society and the American Epilepsy Society.</p>

<p>Raminder Parihar, MD, is Director, Neuromodulation at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Parihar evaluates and treats patients with different movement disorders. She is also largely involved in evaluating patients for candidacy for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery for the treatment of different movement disorders and initiating and following up stimulation programming.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences from the City College of New York in 2007, Dr. Parihar completed her Doctor of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2009. She then came to Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she completed an internship in medicine in 2010 and her residency in adult neurology in 2013, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Parihar completed a fellowship in movement disorders at Harvard/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Parihar&rsquo;s research focuses on gait disorders and how they can predict cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson's disease. She also studies the impact of deep brain stimulation in improving the quality of life in patients with movement disorders. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed book chapters and publications, and she has shared her work through lectures and platform and abstract presentations.</p><p>Dr. Parihar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Movement Disorders Society and the American Medical Association (AMA). In 2023, Dr. Parihar was a recipient of the Marquis Who's Who in America Award.</p>

<p>Dr. Nissinoff is a physiatrist, a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor. His current research focus is on the inpatient rehabilitation of individuals with heart failure who have undergone implantation of a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). The LVAD assists the heart in pumping blood through the circulatory system.</p>

<p>As a result, patients are deconditioned &ndash; that is they have heart muscle loss due to decreased physical effort &ndash; and can benefit from inpatient rehabilitation if they are too weak to go directly home after cardiac surgery.</p>

Biography

<p>Mark J. Milstein, MD, FAAN, is Director of the Adult Neurology Residency Training Program at Montefiore and Associate Professor of Neurology and Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical work focuses primarily on neurohospitalist and neuromuscular medicine / electromyography (EMG), as well as general neurology.</p><p>After earning a degree in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, Dr. Milstein attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2001. Dr. Milstein completed five years of postgraduate training at Montefiore from 2001-2006, including his internship in medicine, residency in neurology and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology. Dr. Milstein was Chief Resident in the final year of his neurology training.</p><p>Dr. Milstein&rsquo;s research focuses on medical education, inpatient neurology and neuromuscular medicine. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, and includes original research, review articles, and books. Dr. Milstein has been an invited speaker at a number of national lectures and presentations.</p><p>At the 15th Annual Doctors Recognition Day in 2018, Dr. Milstein received the Peer to Peer Excellence in Medicine Award from the Bronx County Medical Society. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the New York State Neurological Society. He holds leadership positions in the AAN and the New York County Medical Society (NYCMS).</p><p>Dr. Milstein is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.</p>

His research interests include the analysis of EEG monitoring data, the subcomponent structure and generators of evoked potentials, new methods for analysis of evoked potential studies, evoked potential changes in patients with epilepsy, and techniques for intraoperative monitoring of the nervous system.</p>

<p>Dr. Kobets is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an Attending Pediatric and Adult Neurosurgeon in the Montefiore Health System. Dr. Kobets received his Medical Doctorate and Master of Health Science degrees from the Yale School of Medicine and completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Kobets is the first in his family born in the United States and is from Queens, NY. His family is Ukrainian with roots in Siberia as well. Dr. Kobets' practice is focused on a patient- and family-centered approach, utilizing the most advanced neurosurgical technologies via minimally-invasive procedures to treat the most complex neurosurgical conditions in both children and adults. Doctor Kobets has offices throughout the Bronx and Westchester.</p>

Biography

<p>Andrew Joshua Kobets, MD, is Attending Physician at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Kobets specializes in pediatric neurological surgery with a focus on minimally invasive tumor resection, neuro-endoscopy for hydrocephalus, craniofacial reconstruction, Chiari malformation surgery, tethered cord syndrome repair, and pediatric cranial trauma management.</p><p>In 2005, Dr. Kobets received his Bachelor of Arts in systems neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University. From 2007 to 2012, he attended Yale University. During this time, he received his Master of Health Sciences and Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Kobets began his postgraduate training in 2012 at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and continued to train there until 2019. He began with a year-long internship in neurological surgery. He then completed a 6-year residency in neurological surgery, becoming Chief Resident in the final year. In 2019, Dr. Kobets began a year-long fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.</p><p>Dr. Kobets&rsquo; research aims to develop a model of hydrocephalus secondary to intraventricular hemorrhage to trial the use of cutting-edge therapies to prevent life-long shunt dependence in children with hydrocephalus. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, books and abstracts, and has been presented internationally at invited presentations.</p><p>The Norma Bailey Berniker Prize was given to Dr. Kobets by the Yale School of Medicine in 2012. In 2018, Dr. Kobets received the Fred Epstein Award from the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery. The following year, he received the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Outstanding Medical Student Education.</p><p>Dr. Kobets is a member of numerous professional societies, including the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery, the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery. </p>
