<p>Cynthia C. Hung, MD, is an Attending Physician at Montefiore and is an assistant professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since joining the Montefiore team, her clinical focus has been on strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and general rehabilitation management.</p><p>In 2009, Dr. Hung received her Bachelor of Arts in cell biology and neuroscience at Rutgers University. She then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Hung began her postgraduate training in 2013 as a preliminary medicine resident at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, completing her residency in 2014. She then became a physical medicine and rehabilitation resident at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, which she completed in 2017. Dr. Hung then continued training at NYU Langone Health as a brain injury medicine fellow to increase her expertise in this specialty.</p><p>Extending from her clinical interests, Dr. Hung&rsquo;s research is also primarily focused on injuries of the brain and stroke. In 2012, she conducted research at Kessler Foundation Research Center on stroke patients with spatial neglect to determine their community mobility.&nbsp; In 2017 she conducted research at NYU- Langone Medical Center on hand and arm rehabilitation after stroke. Her work has been presented nationally.</p><p>Dr. Hung is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.</p>

<p>Dr. Herskovitz is Professor of Clinical Neurology and Director of the EMG Lab / Neuromuscular division. He earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical Center in 1980. He completed residencies in both Internal Medicine and Neurology, followed by a Fellowship in Electromyography/Neuromuscular Disorders,&nbsp;all at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the ABIM, ABPN, ABEM, and ABPN-AQNM. His clinical research interests include the peripheral neuropathies, entrapment neuropathies and peripheral&nbsp;neurotoxicology. He has published on various aspects of carpal tunnel syndrome including electrophysiologic diagnosis, treatment and autonomic features, clinical features of a variety of peripheral neuropathies, and the neurotoxicology of pharmaceutical and industrial agents. <p>Steven Herskovitz, MD, is Director, Neuromuscular Medicine and Director, Electromyography (EMG) Lab at Montefiore. He is also Professor of Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Herskovitz&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the evaluation and management of all neuromuscular disorders, with a particular interest in electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular ultrasound assessment.</p><p>In 1976, Dr. Herskovitz received his Bachelor of Science in biology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then attended Cornell University Medical College, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1980. From 1980 to 1987, Dr. Herskovitz completed his postgraduate training at Montefiore. During this time, he spent his first year as a medical intern and next two years as a medical resident. In 1983, he began a three-year neurology residency, becoming Chief Resident in the final year. He ended his postgraduate training with a fellowship in Electromyography and Neuromuscular Diseases.</p><p>Expanding on his clinical focus, Dr. Herskovitz&rsquo;s research centers on clinical, electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular ultrasound assessment of neuropathies. His work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, books, review articles and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Herskovitz is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, including Added Qualification in Neuromuscular Medicine, and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. <p>Sikha Guha, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Rehabilitation Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on academic teaching and patient care with musculoskeletal problems, general physiatry and neuromuscular disorders, including electrodiagnosis. She is the coordinator of the bimonthly electrodiagnosis conference for residents and attendings within the Rehab Department.</p><p>Dr. Guha earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Christian Medical College in Punjab, India, in 1975. She completed a rotating internship at Brown Memorial Hospital in Punjab, India, in 1976 and her physical medicine &amp; rehabilitation residency in 1981 at Montefiore Medical Center. She was the Chief Resident in her final year.</p><p>Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Guha&rsquo;s research focuses on electromyography (EMG), neuromuscular disorders and vascular disorders. <p>Mery Elashvili, DO , is Director, Stroke Rehabilitation Service, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and Assistant Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on neurorehabilitation, with a particular interest in stroke rehabilitation.</p><p>After earning her Doctor of Medicine from Tbilisi State Medical School in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1977, Dr. Elashvili completed an internship at the same institution in 1978. She then completed her postgraduate training in neurology at the Institute for Physicians, USSR in 1979. Upon moving to the United States to continue her medical education, Dr. Elashvili earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. She then completed an internship in internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in 1997, followed by a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency in 2000.</p><p>Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Elashvili&rsquo;s research focuses on stroke rehabilitation. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has given national presentations and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Elashvili is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Medical Association and the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.</p>

<p>Sharon Bushi, MD, is an attending rehabilitation physician and Assistant Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical interests lie in comprehensively caring for her patients who&rsquo;ve experienced brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury such as stroke, tumor and neurodegenerative processes. Dr. Bushi takes an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on maximizing patient wellness and function. She believes in the continuum of care, practicing in inpatient and outpatient settings.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biology from The College of New Jersey in 2011, Dr. Bushi earned her Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in 2015. She then completed a preliminary year internship in internal medicine at Morristown Medical Center in 2016 before completing her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Rutgers-NJMS in 2019, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Bushi remained at this institution to complete a brain injury fellowship in 2020.</p><p>Education is also a passion for Dr. Bushi, as she trains residents and fellows and engages in evidence-based approaches to teaching/education. <p>Larry J. Bernstein, MD, is Associate Program Director, Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Clinical Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bernstein&rsquo;s clinical focus is in chronic urticaria, asthma, and primary and acquired immunodeficiencies.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University in 1973, Dr. Bernstein came to Einstein for his medical education, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1977. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1981, taking on the role of Chief Resident in his final year. In 1983, Dr. Bernstein completed a two-year fellowship in allergy and immunology at Einstein.</p><p>Dr. Bernstein&rsquo;s research focus is in clinical service grants for HIV care. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, poster presentations and book chapters.</p><p>Dr. Bernstein is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy and Immunology and a member of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology and the Clinical Immunology Society. In 1981, he received the Leo M.
