Summer Undergraduate Research Program The Program The Einstein Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) provides an 8-week research-intensive summer experience for 40-50 undergraduate students each year. SURP students live and work on the Einstein campus. SURP students spend most of their time carrying out supervised laboratory research projects in laboratories they identified as being of particular interest to them in their personal statements. During the students’ tenure at Einstein, SURP students interact with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at the lab meetings and journal clubs. The undergraduate students also participate in specially designed weekly seminars, given by Einstein faculty, on a wide variety of biomedically relevant, basic research topics. Additionally summer students also attend career development workshops to learn about professional interviewing and networking skills. At the end of the SURP, students prepare a written abstract and present their research findings at the Einstein Summer Research Symposium (poster session). Director: Victoria H.
