Biography

<p>Alexis D. Richards, MD, MSC, FAAP, is Medical Director, Eating Disorder Program and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on adolescent mental health, adolescent gynecology, reproductive health services and eating disorders.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from New York University in 2007, Dr. Richards earned her Master of Science in the control of infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, United Kingdom in 2011. She then moved back to the United States to continue her medical training, completing her postbaccalaureate premedical science certificate at Columbia University in 2012 and her Doctor of Medicine at Emory University in 2015. Dr. Richards completed her pediatrics internship and residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2018 and a clinical fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of California, San Francisco in 2023.</p><p>Building on her clinical experience, Dr. Richard&rsquo;s research focuses on sexual and reproductive health and eating disorders. Her work has been shared through several peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations. She has also been a reviewer for the <em>Maternal and Child Health Journal</em>.</p><p>Dr. Richards is board certified by and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a member of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine.</p>

Biography

<p>Melissa E. Menezes, MD, is an attending physician, Adolescent Medicine and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Menezes’ clinical interests and focuses include insertion and management of long acting reversible contraceptives, sexual health, including sexually transmitted infections.</p>

<p>After completing her Bachelor of Science at Northwestern University and her post-baccalaureate in premedical education at Columbia University, Dr. Menezes attended Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2016. She completed her pediatrics residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Kravis Children’s Hospital in 2019, followed by a three-year fellowship in adolescent medicine at Montefiore Einstein in 2022.</p>

<p>Dr. Menezes’ current research focuses on sexually transmitted infections in the adolescent population, particularly <em>Mycoplasma genitalium</em> infection in adolescent females. She has also authored book chapters on abnormal uterine bleeding, as well as public policy and adolescent gun violence.</p>

<p>Dr. Menezes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a member of several professional societies including the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. In 2022, Dr. Menezes received the Leo M. Davidoff Award for excellence in medical student teaching.</p>

<p>Dr. Hina J. Talib, a Brown University&nbsp;<em>summa cum laude</em>&nbsp;graduate, earned her&nbsp;<em>Bachelor of Science</em>&nbsp;in Neuroscience. She attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College, NY where she served as vice-president of her class. She completed her Pediatrics Residency at New York Presbyterian- Weill Cornell and her Chief Residency in Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.</p>
<p>Dr. Talib completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine in June 2013 at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Talib joined CHAM as Assistant Medical Director for the Michael I. Cohen, MD Adolescent Inpatient Floor where she serves as a teaching hospitalist and chaired the Quality Improvement Committee. In 2015, Dr. Talib was appointed as Associate Director of the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Training Program. In 2018, Dr. Talib was appointed Medical Director of the Adolescent Inpatient floor.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In addition to providing outpatient sub-specialty care at CHAM, Dr. Talib also cared for youth in foster care at the Children's Aid Society's Bronx Family Health Center. Dr. Talib offers Nexplanon dermal implants, as a method of long acting hormonal contraception, for teen pregnancy prevention at both sites. Her clinical interests include adolescent health, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care, and care of the hospitalized adolescent.</p>
<p>Dr. Talib is board-certified in Pediatrics and in Adolescent Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and a member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG). She serves as Associate Editor of the <em>Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology</em>, the official journal of NASPAG, and as a co-chair of the NASPAG resident education committee. In addition, Dr. Talib is a recent past President of the Executive Board of the New York chapter of SAHM.</p>

Biography

<p>Hina J. Talib, MD, is Director of the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program and an Attending Physician in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Talib is also an Associate&nbsp;Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is adolescent health, pediatrics and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care and care of hospitalized adolescents. She joined the Montefiore team in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Talib received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2001 from Brown University. <p>Neal D. Hoffman, MD, is an Attending Physician in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics at Montefiore (CHAM), and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is in general pediatrics and adolescent medicine, with interests in school-based health care, chronic illness management and reproductive and sexual health. Dr. Hoffman joined Montefiore's School Health Program in 2002, where he was Medical Director from 2005-2017. Dr. Hoffman was the Medical Director at Montefiore's Adolescent AIDS Program from 1994 to 2001. </p><p>Dr. Hoffman attended Boston University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine in 1987. He completed a Medical Internship at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in 1988. From 1988 to 1991, he was Pediatric Resident at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, after which he was Pediatric Chief Resident for one year. From 1992-1994, Dr. Hoffman completed a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. </p><p>Dr. Hoffman is currently the Principal Investigator of a 5-year NIDA-funded R01 Implementation Science Project on universal HIV testing and targeted HIV prevention protocol in school-based health centers. He completed a fellowship in 2016-2017 in Practice-Based Research Methodology through an AHRQ-funded program at Case Western University Medical Center, when he started developing a research study to compare adolescent and parent responses for assessment of asthma severity and control. Dr. Hoffman participated in the Performance Improvement Course at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore in 2018. Dr. Hoffman's research has been published in numerous reviewed journals and articles, book chapters, and abstracts. </p><p>In 2013, Dr. Hoffman received the Bronx Community Health Network Community Health Leadership Award. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. </p>

Upon graduation from fellowship, she joined the pediatrics faculty at Einstein/Montefiore where she has remained throughout her career, achieving promotion to Professor of Pediatrics in 1993. Dr. Coupey was appointed as Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore in 2002 and served for 16 years until stepping down from that leadership position in February 2018. Currently, she remains active as an attending physician with the Division of Adolescent Medicine.</p>

<p>Dr. Coupey&rsquo;s academic and research interests include adolescent gynecology and reproductive endocrinology, adolescent bone health and vitamin D metabolism, as well as psychosocial effects of chronic illness in the adolescent age group. Her bibliography includes more than 125 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books as well as more than 75 published abstracts.&nbsp; She frequently was invited to speak at regional, national, and international medical meetings and delivered keynote addresses at meetings in Berlin (1996), Manila (1997), Buenos Aires (1999), Jerusalem (2000), and Athens (2000).</p>

<p>Dr. Coupey was Director of the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine for 17 years, retiring from this educational leadership position in June 2007. In this role, she was responsible for curriculum development and implementation of three required medical school courses that teach medical interviewing and physical diagnosis skills to all first- and second-year students using innovative learner- centered, small group-based educational strategies. Dr Coupey was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society, as the 1998 faculty inductee by the graduating students of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and was honored with the Harry F. Gordon Award for outstanding clinical teaching at the 2002 graduation ceremony. In 2008, she was selected as the recipient of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Honorary Alumna Award.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Susan M. Coupey, M.D., a nationally and internationally recognized adolescent medicine specialist, is Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. She was elected to the American Pediatric Society in 1998 and served as President of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology in 2002-2003. Dr. Coupey was honored with the Adele Dellenbaugh Hofman Award for excellence in the field of adolescent health by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Adolescent Health in 2005.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Dr. Coupey earned her bachelor&rsquo;s degree from Queen&rsquo;s University in Kingston, Ontario and, in 1975, her M.D. degree from the University of British Columbia&rsquo;s Faculty of Medicine where she won the Whitelaw Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement.&nbsp; She completed her clinical training with a rotating internship at the Montreal General Hospital, pediatric residency at the Montreal Children's Hospital, and fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. Her clinical focus is on the implementation of strategies to promote care for infants, children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS.</span></p><p><span>In 1982, Dr. Collins-Ogle received her Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Michigan. She then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 1986. She began her postgraduate training in 1986 and spent the following five years at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital of Michigan completing an internship, residency and fellowship. </span></p><p><span>Dr. Collins-Ogle&rsquo;s research focuses on different modes of delivery of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in adolescents and youth. She also works with the pediatric and adult infectious disease teams at Montefiore to better understand sexually transmitted infections&rsquo; impact in adolescents and susceptibility to HIV acquisition.
