Biography

<p>Ivy Tam, MD, FAAP, is an Attending Physician and a Non-neonatal Emergency Transport Coordinator at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. </p><p>In 2009, Dr. Tam received her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences at Cornell University. She then attended SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Tam began her postgraduate training with a residency in pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine in 2018 at the University of California San Diego. </p><p>Dr. Tam&rsquo;s research aims to improve care and communication for patients with limited English proficiency, as well as standardizing pain practices for children. She has shared her work through presentations in academic forums and scientific meetings, and is currently in the process of being submitted for publication. </p><p>2017, Dr. Tam received the CARES Award from hospital staff at Rady Children&rsquo;s Hospital for her support during the medical director&rsquo;s absence. Dr. Tam is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. </p>

<p>Dr. Hina J. Talib, a Brown University&nbsp;<em>summa cum laude</em>&nbsp;graduate, earned her&nbsp;<em>Bachelor of Science</em>&nbsp;in Neuroscience. She attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College, NY where she served as vice-president of her class. She completed her Pediatrics Residency at New York Presbyterian- Weill Cornell and her Chief Residency in Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.</p>
<p>Dr. Talib completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine in June 2013 at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Talib joined CHAM as Assistant Medical Director for the Michael I. Cohen, MD Adolescent Inpatient Floor where she serves as a teaching hospitalist and chaired the Quality Improvement Committee. In 2015, Dr. Talib was appointed as Associate Director of the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Training Program. In 2018, Dr. Talib was appointed Medical Director of the Adolescent Inpatient floor.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In addition to providing outpatient sub-specialty care at CHAM, Dr. Talib also cared for youth in foster care at the Children's Aid Society's Bronx Family Health Center. Dr. Talib offers Nexplanon dermal implants, as a method of long acting hormonal contraception, for teen pregnancy prevention at both sites. Her clinical interests include adolescent health, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care, and care of the hospitalized adolescent.</p>
<p>Dr. Talib is board-certified in Pediatrics and in Adolescent Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and a member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG). She serves as Associate Editor of the <em>Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology</em>, the official journal of NASPAG, and as a co-chair of the NASPAG resident education committee. In addition, Dr. Talib is a recent past President of the Executive Board of the New York chapter of SAHM.</p>

Dr. Talib is also an Associate&nbsp;Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is adolescent health, pediatrics and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care and care of hospitalized adolescents. She joined the Montefiore team in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Talib received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2001 from Brown University. In 2006, she received her Doctor of Medicine from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. In 2009, Dr. Talib completed a residency in pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children&rsquo;s Health &ndash; Weill Cornell Medical Center. Biography

<p>Jenny Shliozberg, MD, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is in food allergy, hereditary angioedema (HAE), asthma, rhinitis, oral allergy syndrome and chronic urticaria. She frequently conducts food and drug challenges and has cared for HIV-positive and immunodeficient patients for the last 35 years.
</p><p>After earning her Doctor of Medicine at First Pavlov Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia, Dr. Shliozberg continued with her postgraduate training at the same institution, completing her internship in obstetrics and gynecology followed by an ambulatory obstetrics and gynecology clinic. She later came to the United States, continuing her postgraduate training in 1984, completing a pediatric residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in 1987 and an allergy and immunology fellowship at Montefiore and Einstein in 1989.
</p><p>Dr. Shliozberg&rsquo;s research focus includes food allergy, HAE, chronic sporadic urticaria, study in pediatric asthma, HIV and severe combined immunodeficiency and eosinophilic esophagitis. She is principal investigator on the use of Dupixent for pediatric patients, and has a study on AIR Supra use in children. Dr. Shilozberg has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, posters and case reports and she has presented internationally and nationally. She has trained more than 70 fellows, many residents and medical students throughout her career.
</p><p>Dr. Shliozberg is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Shliozberg is a member of the American Association of Certified Allergists, the New York Allergy Society, and the Clinical Immunology Society.

<p>Bianca Calderon, MD, FAAP, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. <p>Larry J. Bernstein, MD, is Associate Program Director, Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Clinical Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Bernstein&rsquo;s clinical focus is in chronic urticaria, asthma, and primary and acquired immunodeficiencies.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University in 1973, Dr. Bernstein came to Einstein for his medical education, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1977. He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1981, taking on the role of Chief Resident in his final year. In 1983, Dr. Bernstein completed a two-year fellowship in allergy and immunology at Einstein.</p><p>Dr. Bernstein&rsquo;s research focus is in clinical service grants for HIV care. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, poster presentations and book chapters.</p><p>Dr. Bernstein is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Allergy and Immunology and a member of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology and the Clinical Immunology Society. In 1981, he received the Leo M. Davidoff Certificate of Distinction for excellence in medical student teaching.</p>

Biography

<p>Alissa Baker, MD, is an Instructor in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is in pediatric sarcomas with an interest in identifying biomarkers of metastases, as well as identifying new adjuvant therapies for this high-risk patient population. Dr. Baker joined the Montefiore team in 2018. </p><p>Dr. Baker received her Doctor of Medicine from Penn State College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she led the Quality Improvement team for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit. Following residency, she completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and The National Institutes of Health. </p><p>Dr. Baker&rsquo;s research focuses on Ewing sarcoma metastasis biology, with a specialized focus on Wnt signaling, using zebrafish as a model of sarcoma metastasis for high throughput drug screens to identify new agents, screening patient plasma and tissue samples for biomarkers of potential metastasis, and identifying circulating tumor cells in the blood of sarcoma patients as a possible correlative to disease burden. Her publications include a co-first author sentinel nature paper on mutation profiling in human cancer and a recent paper on the effects of Wnt signaling inhibition in Ewing sarcoma. </p><p>In 2017, Dr. Baker received the Pearl M. Stetler Grant for Women Physicians. In 2018, she received the Paul Calabresi K12 Award in Clinical Oncology for her research in Ewing sarcoma biology. Dr. Baker is board certified and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition, she is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.</p>
