Andrei Y. Nagorny
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 110%;"><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 110%; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;">Dr. Andrei Nagorny is a psychiatrist working on the inpatient psychiatric unit at Montefiore Hospital, Wakefield Division. His interests are in Inpatient Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, and Substance Abuse. As a clinician, educator, and Assistant Professor on the faculty at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Nagorny has been involved in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows. </span><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 110%; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif;">Dr. Nagorny is currently Director of inpatient psychiatry services at Montefiore Hospital Center, Wakefiled Division. He is dually board certified in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Nagorny completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Columbia University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. </span></p>
Thomas F. Betzler
<p>Thomas F. Betzler, MD is a psychiatrist with interests in Community Mental Health, Outpatient Psychiatry, Integrated Treatment of Mental Illness & Primary Care, Addiction Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry and Population Health. He is the Executive Clinical Director, East Campus, Clinical Director of Montefiore Behavioral Health Center at Westchester Square, and Associate Clinical Director in Psychiatry. He teaches first year medical students in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine, second year medical students on Schizophrenia, and oversees the outpatient clinical rotation for third year students at Montefiore Behavioral Health Center. Additionally, he teaches fourth year psychiatric residents in Administrative Psychiatry and Addiction Fellows on alcohol abuse. </p>
<p>Dr. Betzler is a graduate of Einstein, completed his residency at Montefiore and is Board Certified. He serves on several clinical and adminisitrative committees. </p>
Ammar Y. Ahmad
Dr. Ahmad's clinical focus is psychosomatic medicine, with particular interest in heart and lung transplant psychiatry.
Dr. Ahmad’s research focuses on psychosomatic medicine and medical ethics, particularly in the area of organ transplantation selection.
<p>Ammar Yasser Ahmad, MD, is Attending Psychiatrist at Montefiore. His clinical focus is psychosomatic medicine, with particular interest in heart and lung transplant psychiatry.</p><p>In 2007, Dr. Ahmad received his Bachelor of Science in history and biology at the University of Pittsburgh. He then attended St. George’s University, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2014. He began his postgraduate training in 2015 with a four-year residency in psychiatry at the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, becoming Chief Resident in his final year. In 2019, he began a yearlong fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Montefiore. In 2020, Dr. Ahmad completed the certificate program in bioethics and medical humanities at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Ahmad’s research focuses on psychosomatic medicine and medical ethics, particularly in the area of organ transplantation selection. His work has been published in a number of abstracts.</p><p>In 2020, Dr. Ahmad received the Davidoff Teaching Award. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. </p>
