Biography

Tamara Kalhan, MD, FAAP, is Medical Director, Low Birthweight Evaluation and Assessment Program (LEAP) Clinic and Director, Neonatal Education, Wakefield Division at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Course Director, Medicine Electives in Neonatology and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on neonatal outcomes for premature infants, low birth weight infants and infants requiring extended Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) hospitalizations.Dr. Kalhan earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2009 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency in 2012 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Columbia University, where she was Chief Fellow in her final year of training in 2015.Dr. Kalhan’s research interests and expertise include improving follow-up care and neonatal outcomes in high-risk infant populations, with an emphasis on early detection of cerebral palsy. She has been co-investigator on research projects and has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, review articles and case reports, abstracts, platform presentations and poster presentations.Dr. Kalhan is board certified in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

After completing her fellowship, Dr. Jerschow joined Merck & Co., Inc. as an associate director in the Department of Clinical Immunology. During the work at Merck, her main research focused on the evaluation of adverse drug reactions in study participants and on developing new therapeutic targets in the area of immunology.
After returning to the Einstein/Montefiore Department of Medicine, Dr. Jerschow established a Center for <a href="https://www.einstein.yu.edu/departments/medicine/divisions/allergy-immu…; target="_blank" rel="noopener">AERD and Drug Allergy</a>. She is providing continuous care to patients with AERD and allergies to medications. She has also been selected as New York Times Super Doctor and NY Top Doctor for several years.

Biography

Mona Gangar, MD, MS, is Director. Medical Students; Co-director, Pediatric thyroid program; Faculty Advisor, ENT interest group and Assistant Professor of Otorhinolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. Her clinical interests are in all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology with a focus on pediatric head and neck pathology, and special interests in pediatric thyroid disease, vascular anomalies, resident/medical student education and global health.In 1999, Dr. Gangar received her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California Los Angeles. She attended MCP Hahnemann University from 2000 to 2002, earning her Master of Science in medical science. She then attended New York Medical College to pursue her Doctor of Medicine degree, earning it in 2006. Her postdoctoral training included an otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery residency at Einstein from 2006 to 2011, followed by a yearlong fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, which she completed in 2012.Dr. Gangar’s research focuses on all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology. She has shared her work through publication in journals and podium and poster presentations.Dr. Gangar is board certified and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.

Deborah Campbell, MD, FAAP, is Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and at attending neonatologist at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. She conducted the Low-birth-weight infant Evaluation and Assessment Program (LEAP) clinic from 1988 through December 2022 and served as the Chief of Neonatology from 1994 until 2023. Her research and clinical interests include health services delivery, global perinatal heath care, perinatal ethics, shared decision-making and palliative care education, family integrated care in the neonatal intensive care unit and neonatal outcomes for very preterm and medically complex infants.  
Dr. Campbell is a member of the Academic Pediatric Society and a fellow at the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academic Pediatric Association. Dr. Campbell has an active role in perinatal activities at the NY City and State, and national levels, currently serving on the Hospice & Palliative Care Association of NYS Children's Advisory Group, the NYS Perinatal Quality Collaborative Neonatal Expert Workgroup, NYS DOH Maternity Care Clinical Advisory Group, the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine High-Risk Infant Follow-up Workgroup, The Bronx Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Committee and the Bronx Maternal Health Care Steering Committee.  
 Dr. Campbell co-chaired the Bright Futures Guidelines, 4th edition Infancy Expert Panel (2017) and serves as an editor of, and contributor to, the American Academy of Pediatrics Textbook of Pediatric Care, the electronic companion tool, Pediatric Care On-line and the Quick Reference Guide to Pediatric Care, Neonatal Care: A Quick Reference Deck and the textbook, Neonatology for Primary Care.

Biography

Dr. Campbell, Program Director for the fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Director of the Division of Neonatology at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, conducts the Low Birth Weight Infant Evaluation and Assessment Program (LEAP). She focuses on perinatal care and health services delivery, psychosocial support interventions for mothers of premature babies, perinatal ethics and collaborative decision-making, outcomes for very low birth weight infants and newborn hearing screening. She is a co-chair of the Faculty Mentoring Work Group of the Education and Faculty Support Committee at Einstein and led a faculty development initiative within the Department of Pediatrics.A member of the National March of Dimes Bioethics Committee and NICU Family Support Project Advisory Group, Dr. Campbell also serves on the New York City and Bronx Infant Mortality Review Committees and is a co-chair of the Bronx Regional Perinatal Forum. She is a member of the Greater New York Hospital Association Perinatal Safety Collaborative Advisory Group and the National Quality Forum Perinatal Collaborative and the New York State Obstetric and Neonatal Quality Collaborative, Neonatology Expert Workgroup. Dr. Campbell also serves on the New York State Palliative Care Education and Training Council. Dr. Campbell is the recipient of the 2000 Bronx Perinatal Consortium Distinguished Clinical Care Award, the 2005 New York State Perinatal Association L. Stanley James Award and the 2009 National Perinatal Association Stan Graven Award. She has been recognized by Castle Connolly and the New York Magazine in their lists of Best Doctors.
