<p>Dr. Goldstein completed his medical school training at Einstein and went on to complete his residency and chief residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Montefiore. With a passion for advanced molecular diagnostics he then went on to complete a molecular genetic pathology fellowship and Mount Sinai hospital.</p>
<p>Dr. Goldstein&rsquo;s interests include several areas of clinical laboratory medicine and laboratory optimization with particular interests in molecular diagnostics and data alanysis. Dr. Goldstein has received accolades for his teaching including the Leo M. Davidoff award for teaching of medical students at Einstein as well as the Montefiore Pathology Department resident teaching award. Dr. Goldstein currently serves as Associate Director of Molecular Infectious Disease Testing and is Co-Director of the Molecular Genetic laboratories at Montefiore.</p>

Biography

<p>Yaroslav (Jacob) Gelfand, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Gelfand&rsquo;s clinical specialty is in the use of minimally invasive approaches to diagnose and treat a wide variety of spine pathologies and problems. With extensive training in both minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, Dr. Gelfand offers the latest treatment options to patients, using cutting-edge technology including intraoperative image guidance, fluoroscopy, endoscopy and pre-operative computer planning.</p><p>After completing his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering at University of California, Davis, Dr. Gelfand studied his Doctor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, earning the degree in 2013. His time at Weill Cornell included a yearlong Howard Hughes Medical Fellowship at the institution&rsquo;s neurobiology and behavioral science lab. From 2013 to 2018, Dr. Gelfand pursued a residency in neurosurgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed a research fellowship at Columbia University as well as a nonclinical research fellowship with Globus Medical's Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center in 2019, before returning to be chief resident at Einstein&rsquo;s Department of Neurological Surgery from 2019 to 2020. In 2021, Dr. Gelfand completed his yearlong minimally invasive and complex spine surgery fellowship at the University of California&rsquo;s Los Angeles Spine Center.</p><p>Dr. Gelfand&rsquo;s research focuses on the latest spine technology, surgical techniques and patient outcomes. He has authored and co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters along with many more abstracts and presentations. His research efforts have been presented at numerous national and international conferences and have been recognized with several distinguished awards. He is also a reviewer for Global Spine Journal, Clinical Biomechanics and Spine Journal.</p><p>Dr. Gelfand is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.</p>

<p>Dr. David Ciocon received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University (cum laude with HIgh Honors in History and Literature) and his M.D. from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Prior to his residency in dermatology, he completed three years of a combined general and plastic surgery residency training at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital as well as a one-year clinical research fellowship in psoriasis at Harvard University, Brigham &amp; Women's Hospital. He subsequently completed a dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident and recipient of the Leo M. Davidoff Award for Excellence in Teaching. He then completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser &amp; Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey under the guidance of Dr. David Goldberg in 2009.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Since 2013, Dr. Ciocon has served as the Director of Dermatologic Surgery, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has also serves as the Director of Clinical Operations of the Dermatology Division of the Montefiore Medical Center.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Ciocon is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American College of Mohs Surgery. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cosmestic and Laser Therapy. He is a preceptor in the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor program.</p>
<p>Dr. Ciocon's clinical interests include Mohs Micrographic surgery, facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, laser-assisted tumescent liposuction, autologous fat transfer, laser medicine, and minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology. He has written multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbooks with respect to surgical and non-surgical approaches to cutaneous oncology, cutaneous reconstruction, and aesthetic rejuvenation.</p>

<p>David Ciocon, MD, is Director, Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology and Director, Clinical Operations, Dermatology Division at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Dermatology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ciocon&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on Mohs micrographic surgery, cutaneous oncology, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and lasers.</p><p>After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1994, Dr. Ciocon earned his Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers University in 2002. He completed an internship and residency in general and plastic surgery at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital in 2005 and became a dermatopharmacology research fellow at Harvard University, Brigham and Women's Hospital until 2006. Following this, Dr. Ciocon completed his dermatology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2009, where he was Chief Resident in his final year. He then completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey in 2010.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Ciocon&rsquo;s research is focused on Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, cosmetic dermatologic surgery and lasers. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books, book chapters and abstracts. He has also given many national presentations.</p><p>Dr. Ciocon is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology with a subspecialty certification in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, among others. Biography

<p>Bijal Amin, MD,&nbsp;Associate Professor of Pathology and Internal Medicine, serves as the Director of the Dermatopathology and Program Director of the&nbsp;Dermatopathology Fellowship at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Amin&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the study of tissue to diagnose inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the skin.</p><p>Dr. Amin matriculated from the prestigious accelerated BA/MD program at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She started her postdoctoral training with an internship in internal medicine at University of Washington. She then went to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology from 2004 to 2008, acting as chief resident in pathology in her final year. In 2009, she completed a yearlong dermatopathology fellowship through a joint program with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. In 2020, she completed the Healthcare Information Technology certificate program at Columbia University.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. Amin&rsquo;s research focus follows her clinical interests in dermatopathology. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and presentations.</p>&nbsp;
<p>Dr. Amin is board certified and is a member of several professional societies including the College of American Pathologists and American Society of Dermatopathology. In 2015, she was awarded Teacher of the Year by Einstein&rsquo;s Division of Dermatology. In addition to her work in dermatopathology, Dr. Amin has an interest in clinical informatics.</p>
