<p>Dr. Sankin is an academic surgeon in the Department of Urology, at Montefiore Medical Center with a clinical focus on surgical approaches to the management of urologic malignancies of the upper urinary tract and bladder. His academic focus is divided between clinical and translational research studying emerging treatments and techniques central to the surgical care of patients with urologic cancers.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Sankin is the site-Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials studying novel therapeutics for patients with bladder cancer who wish to avoid radical cystectomy. As an active member of multiple clinical trial consortiums including Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Society of Urologic Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium, Dr. Sankin speardeaded the development of a bladder cancer clinical trials program at Einstein.&nbsp;</p>
<p>His translational research focuses on characterizing the tumor immune microenvironment of bladder tumors and the role of novel checkpoint molecules as relevant therpeutic targets. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Alexander I. Sankin, MD, is Associate Professor, Urology at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical specialty is surgical approaches to treating urological malignancies, including prostate, testicular, renal and bladder cancer.</p><p>After earning his Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, Dr. Sankin earned his Doctor of Medicine from New York University in 2008 and completed his residency in surgery and urology at the State University of New York Downstate in 2013. He then completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2015.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Sankin&rsquo;s research centers on bladder-preserving treatment options in patients with high-risk bladder cancer and the development of new immunotherapies for bladder cancer. <p>Franklin C. Lowe, MD, Professor of Urology and Vice-Chair of the Department, is also Director of Urologic Services, Jack D. Weiler Hospital. An expert in the treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the prostate, Dr. Lowe has published over 150 articles on multiple urological topics and has lectured extensively throughout the world. Prior to joining The Department of Urology at Montefiore, Dr. Lowe held faculty and leadership positions at Columbia University, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and at St. Luke&rsquo;s/ Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan. A Graduate of Princeton University, Dr. Lowe obtained both his Medical and Masters of Public Health degrees from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internship and residency in Surgery and Urology at The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Lowe previously served as the Chairman of The American Urological Association&rsquo;s Alternative Medicine Committee and as a member of the BPH Guidelines Committee.</p>

Biography

<p>Stanley H. Boczko, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology, an expert in general urologic care and the treatment of all forms of urological disorders, joined Montefiore in 2016. Dr. Boczko currently serves as an Attending Physician in Urology at Montefiore and as a Clinical Instructor of Urology at Einstein. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The City College of New York. After earning his medical degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Boczko completed his internship and residence training in Surgery and Urology at Montefiore. Under the auspices of the American Cancer Society, Dr. Boczko obtained fellowship training in renal transplantation, microsurgery, and hemodialysis access and later he was the recipient of the F.C Valentine Essay Contest in Urology Award in Clinical Urology. Dr. Boczko is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Clinical Urologists. In recent years he has been chosen by several prestigious publications such as New York Magazine as one of the best doctors in the New York Metro Area. He is fluent in Hebrew, Yiddish and Spanish.</p>

<p>Bijal Amin, MD,&nbsp;Associate Professor of Pathology and Internal Medicine, serves as the Director of the Dermatopathology and Program Director of the&nbsp;Dermatopathology Fellowship at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Amin&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the study of tissue to diagnose inflammatory and neoplastic diseases of the skin.</p><p>Dr. Amin matriculated from the prestigious accelerated BA/MD program at the George Washington University School of Medicine. She started her postdoctoral training with an internship in internal medicine at University of Washington. She then went to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology from 2004 to 2008, acting as chief resident in pathology in her final year. In 2009, she completed a yearlong dermatopathology fellowship through a joint program with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. In 2020, she completed the Healthcare Information Technology certificate program at Columbia University.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. Amin&rsquo;s research focus follows her clinical interests in dermatopathology. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and presentations.</p>&nbsp;
<p>Dr. Amin is board certified and is a member of several professional societies including the College of American Pathologists and American Society of Dermatopathology. In 2015, she was awarded Teacher of the Year by Einstein&rsquo;s Division of Dermatology. In addition to her work in dermatopathology, Dr. Amin has an interest in clinical informatics.</p>
